Other clubs transfer news (home and abroad)

Kudos is more of a West Ham player then Graham Potter is a West Ham Manager. The reality is the fans will turn on Potter this season for his dreary football. Any new manager will be tasked with returning to playing the 'West Ham Way' and Kudos would have been useful for that project.

He's smart to get out whilst he can, though. I can just envisage a near future where West Ham will be kicking themselves. In the right circumstances and set up, Kudos is an excellent attacker and built for the Premier League. They don't grow on trees.
That is harsh on Potter. His Brighton team played some nice football. It was less exciting than Zerbe's, but not dull. This is the season that he needs to pull it all together, for sure. I hope he does, as he always seemed a good character.

Apparently West Ham don't have much PSR wriggle room and Kudus was their only likely big sale to generate funds from. Think West Ham and Potter would be interested in Harvey & Tyler both, as they both would suit his way of playing.
Well Harvey won't do much for their PSR !

Love your spellchecker's thinking.

Worth pointing out that while Forest were OK for Premier League PSR last year, they probably won't meet UEFA targets on either profits or football cost ratio, so they probably need to sell with being in Europe this year (hence Elanga and now potentially Gibbs-White).
They might have thought they'd get away with it, but the slap given to Chelsea and Villa has probably persuaded them otherwise.
And having been out of Europe for so long, it would piss off the fans mightily if they took the almost unprecedented step of not taking part, but as with Chelsea, if they don't sort their shit out they'll probably end up being fined more than they earn from being in the Conference League.

Truthfully this makes the whole regime stupid. An underdog team overachievers and qualifies for Europe but has to sell all their best players to be able to participate without sanction.

Yeah, I've said it elsewhere that consolidating the power of the big teams wasn't the goal of FFP, but it's definitely been one of the effects.
But then I look at the Forest owner remonstrating on the pitch with Nuno and I think "fuck that guy".
And again, FFP ultimately punishes fans, not the morons running their clubs into the ground.

One of the stories I'm following a bit this year is Evan Ferguson. He's had such a disappointing and injury striken few years that his next move is huge for him. Roma and Celtic are sniffing around for a loan deal.

In my view he wasn't just a young prodigy who had a golden spell. He was looking he had all the hallmarks of becoming a top claw striker. Brighton seem willing to cut him loose again, which might tell it's own story, but I'd kinda like him to rediscover some kind of form and fitness. It's a shame when these careers just wither and die. Still only 20, so time to turn things around if his body holds up.

Brighton could have sold him for £80M 2 years ago. Unlucky for them.

I’m not sure he is seen as worth it by anyone other than Spurs, weren’t City a fan but choose not to activate the clause? I can see why Spurs went for it though.

Spurs scored 64 league goals last season, 4 fewer than Arsenal. The conceded 65, nearly twice as many as Arsenal.
I know they were coached by Impostorcoglu last year, but Thomas Frank must really believe in his defensive coaching ability because if I was going to blow more than £100m of Spurs' money on a couple of players, it wouldn't have been on attackers.

I have no doubt Frank will tighten them up defensively, even with the same personnel. It’s difficult to be more exposed than Spurs were last season, just by virtue of Ange’s tactical choices.

I did think about the Fat Greek owner before posting. He's an utter weapon for sure. Point still stands though.

The opposition to Madueke has really surprised me.

He wouldn't be my choice either, and the fee is too high, but aleays thought he was a genuinely good player. Very fast, skilful and determined.

He's only 23.
