Thats one of the most suicidal performances you will ever see from Brighton. Missed chances all day, gave away cheap goals and then throw it away with one of the stupidest decisions you'll ever see.

People will say they deserves something from that game but if you're that stupid you deserve nothing.

Clearly a Solskjaer masterclass. He positioned the goal posts/bar perfectly and had his players target Brighton's players' extremities. Tactics.

I really hate this business of the referee checking the pitchside monitor.

I thought the VAR was a qualified referee? Why involve the guy on the pitch? What's the point? It just slows everything down even more than necessary.

Is it a second opinion kind of thing? Couldn't you just have a second VAR to do that instead?

And I thought it was for clear and obvious errors? If a qualified ref can't reverse a decision in 30 odd seconds then by definition it's not clear and obvious.

Disagree, I think since the refs were encouraged to look at the pitchside monitors, the VAR decision-making has improved.

I don't understand it either. Just get a decent referee to sit in the video booth. It really shouldn't as hard as they making it.

I wonder if it gives VAR the confidence to overturn the referee? Takes the onus off them somewhat.

And then once they've said, you need to check, then the referee basically always goes with VAR. The psychological impetus seems to make that inevitable. So it COULD be that being able to pass it back to the ref for rubberstampimg emboldens VAR to overturn the original decisions.

But I'm not sure. I think it'd be better to just stick to the clear and obvious principle.

Zaha has just been given a yellow for absolutely nothing. The refs in the league are shit.

That’s a disgraceful pen to give to Everton. No unnatural position and the ref still gives it.

Once again involved VAR putting pressure on the ref by getting him to go and check the monitor. Once that happens the ref ALWAYS seems to capitulate.

Tyldsley just made that point too, in commentary. Maybe my theory will catch on.

The whole thing stinks. It wasn’t w handball in the first place, VAR shit out of saying it wasn’t and because the ref reviewed it he felt he needed to overturn his original decision.
