We all are desperate to see him do well.
We're sick of the same pattern though, particularly on the left where we keep cutting into trouble and then either losing the ball or passing sideways.
I think we can all see the potential to go both ways, and we're worried it's being coached out of him.
Being slight means that he has to be exceptional going forward if he is going to usurp Cody in Slot's mind so we just want to see him be brave. I think we know he can do it in the right environment...
You are right though, as he scored an awesome goal and create some good opportunities by cutting in, and we shouldn't forget that either.

The ones he's cutting inside, the player is trying to force him down the line. Beats him.
The ones he's going down the line, the defenders don't know what to do because of the above has started to sow doubt in the defenders mind.

I think the issue in that clip is that the bits of skill didn't often translate into beating the defender. Cutting inside to evade the defender is not quite the same thing.
If it's stepover, bang and he's gone... that's sexy. The stuff in that clip, less so.
Does he have raw pace? If so, I'd like to see him use it more because that gets him into the first team. If not, then it's trickier.

It's hard to gage him at this level because Slot keeps giving his scraps. His development is likely stalling it he's not playing youth football, too. I'm still very optimistic about him but it's very early days and it could all see go Jordan Ibe.

See arsenal aren't fucking with max dowman's devolopment. Dowman playing for the arsenal u19s in the European youth lge today. .. The arsenal kids lost their 1st 4 games so are basically out of the youth league bar some weird results as they can only end up on 6 pts now and 6pts is in bottom qualifying spot and yet they play him in his aged competition while slot puts rio on the bench and he gets no worthwhile game time...
Arsenal also gave a 13 y/o a debut in the youth lge.. Breaking the record which was dowman at 14

I think he must have a good case to be fucking majorly pissed off. These are key moments in his development. He’s not getting games with the first team after being labelled a first teamer going into the season. That is because the first team are doing so shit he can’t be given the opportunity to play when the game is done. Slot would rather have Gakpo impregnate him than drop dear Cody, so he’s not starting. He’s on the bench because we didn’t make a squad with £450 million worth of spends which means he’s missing out on games at youth level. He’s basically being used as a training opponent for the first team and team sheet filler. You sign up John Barnes to do the same fucking job.
I agree that he should be playing at youth level for the sake of his development, but I genuinely wonder if he would agree if asked or given the choice.

Yeah, and being on bench for Liverpool is a pretty big deal for a kid, so I don't think he's necessarily pissed off about the situation.
One way to integrate youngsters is by giving them cameos once games are already sealed. Another is throwing them into the fray when the team isn’t performing well. Sterling’s case was very much the latter.
