So who do we want/expect/hope?

I was thinking more of still being owned by someone who loved the club than anything; can't think of a better example.
You are probably right mate, I just don't think Everton has made the most of it. They seem stuck in mediocrity and could probably do with some fresh investments/owners even if they are not to get set further back.

They'll sell another of their players in the next year or so for 5x what they bought him for and start another rebuidling process.

Actually i think Dein and Arsenal would be a better model to follow, would love to get Dein here.

Wasn't Benitez still in a contract when we got him? I can't remember
Could be all that shit you smoke and drink that's erased your memory.

Nevertheless, buying out contracts of Rafa, Roy and Dalglish plus other staff members probably cost a fair bit of dosh which could have went to a transfer budget for better players.

Whoever takes it now, the only connection to Liverpool is an accident of geography. I don't think I really understood that properly in 2007 when it was sold from locals to those dickheads, and Dalglish coming back in with these new guys papered over all that for a bit.

Now we've got this farcical situation of a gang of fund managers from Boston identifying a list of any managers they've heard of on Twitter and then airing their ignorance in public, taking advice from any cunt who claims to be able to offer it.

It's like your local boozer has just been bought by a lottery winner, he's ripped out all the character features and sacked all the staff you've known for years, hasn't got a clue about running pubs and he's very busy on his yacht - but he values your undying and loyal support.

Fuck off please.

You can't ignore that they bought our club only because they were willing to listen to what a low level employee had to say. So lets hope they do some thinking after the listening bit...

Rafa didn't take the full compensation offered, and by all accounts, Kenny didn't take any. Still, we've still had to pay ALOT of staff off.

I think this is very sad. Dalglish and Balotelli could have paid down some of this debt crisis with all the fictional money they've given away on twitter.

after all kenny has given the club over the years both in terms of service, support, memories I think literally no one derserves it more.

I don't see why he would give it up. Football is a business.

I suspect most people on this forum would have taken the money and ran (with the exception of Whaddapie)

B/c some of us still want to believe that this team demands something different - I guess, as I've said in other threads, we're like everyone else.

Hope Jon is right and Villas Boas takes over. Think he's exactly what we need, and his style of play will see us sign a couple of those attacking players that we desperatly need.

All the noise is pointing this way now....

Good. Hopefully he'll get the time he needs to take us forward.
Really hope Kenny comes back aswell. Be it as an ambassador for the club etc. He deserves that if he wanted to.

I don't know what to think about his time at Chelsea, I mean, he failed to get on with a few players, but then who wouldn't with them lot? He dropped points all over the place and barely ever looked like knowing what his best side was. That said, he tried to go heavy handed and called the team in on their day off after they got beat by Everton, to which the players decided to question his tactics infront of Abramovic - he lost the dressing room pretty quickly.

Portugal is one thing, the Premiership is something else, he shit it when they played Stoke in his first game and he seemed genuinely surprised by how good they were and how strong they were at the back. Although his record with Porto was exceptional, his record with Chelsea was inconsistent, as was his time at his first club.

His reputation is built on being assistant to the Special One (we all know how well assistants generally transform into managers) and on one year of exceptional form, in another country. That's it. He's a fucking massive gamble and he's already shown that he struggled to make the transition. He didn't get long enough but he didn't take to it like a duck to water either, and that's got to be a concern when we're looking at progressing from where we were. We don't need to be bringing in another manager who may need a fair amount of indulgence while he adapts to the league.

Fair point Mark, but do you think he didn't learn from his first season in the PL? He certainly won't believe the likes of Stoke are a push over. As for his man-management, well, our players aren't like those at Chelsea.

Then again Agger did voice his concerns with Woy so maybe they are....

Well it will be a young, progressive manager who plays attacking football which many fans have been asking for. The most important thing for me is that we end the debate about how it might have been under Rafa, Martinez, Kenny etc..and we accept the new man and support him. Show him we're not fickle fan cunts like Chelsea ( and theres some of our own fans who need to realise that too). I'm going to be giving him my full support and, more importantly, some patience.

10 games right? Then we can lay in to him? Right? 😛

He, or she, has my support.

Probably a dodgy source, but:

#AVB will be announced as the next Liverpool manager by the end of Tuesday. From my Anfield source. He's never wrong. #lfc

I fully agree Sunny, and I think the crux of my point is that he's "promising", that's all. The position we're in at the minute isn't particularly one where we can fully be content with looking at the longterm again, at projects that may take time to get off the ground. We're in a predicament where we need to get as close to CL football as possible and in as short a time as is feasible. We're caught between a rock and a hard place, we need to restructure and start from the ground up, which in itself takes time and the mentality we're rumored to be trying to instill - attacking football, getting methodical again and creating a blueprint for the whole club, will take time and patience. We've already seen with Kenny and Woy, that it's not a commodity we're able to offer.

That said, I can see now why we're having designated roles behind the scenes, increasing the capacity of the DOF role (for example), all that points to a younger manager coming in and getting an abundance of support at the club, which is great, but it'll be the results that matter and if they're not forthcoming, there's only one place where the buck (and the criticism) will stop.
