id like to think we had learnt our lesson the Andy Carroll way. In fact , going off the Suarez aftermath , id wager we get a budget option if the higher value option isn't coming. I doubt the Americans will be mugged off again , adding klopp to the equation, I back us in the transfer market more than I have done in a long time

he's a brilliant impact sub but that's all he's ever going to be now imo. would be very handy for some minted china bell-end to empty his pockets on him at this point. he's worth keeping as a sub if we aren't getting china bell-end money though.

He's lost a significant amount of pace, and even more acceleration. Same as Torres and Owen. They lose the confidence for explosive speed due to injury and they also lack the explosive speed for explosive speed.


We saw the absolute best out of him because he played in a team that perfectly played to his strength and Suarez's brilliance made him look better than he is. We then shifted to a playstyle that doesn't suit him, and is hurt by him, unless he's on form enough to draw more attention and score regularly. He can't get enough games to get back into form, not because of his manager, but because he can't play a run of games without injury. Couple all that with the fact that he's still a name and we have to answer questions about why he isn't automatically included, as if it isn't completely fucking obvious. He is more likely to get worse, bar the odd patch of goals, than get better, and he will never be part of our long term plans. Players like Origi, definitely his inferior in terms of skill, are right to play more than him.

We just have to hope that someone is stupid enough to pay over the odds for him. I would say they definitely will be. I don't see any reason to hate him though.

There have been games in which he's covered quite a bit of ground, but he and the team as a whole haven't generally done too well in them. I've been a big fan for most of his time here, but I'd unquestionably take the money if we get a big offer.

It's a subject that has been discussed many times already by me and many others

And I'm still not sure if there's a definitive answer because while he did look utterly broken against Southampton, we've thought that before and then there's been evidence to the contrary

Certainly my view has always been that if injuries have robbed him of his pace, mobility and acceleration we should sell him as soon as possible

Gifted as he is, we don't need another slow attacker
