Transfer Rumours

Falcao to Utd would be pretty gutting. Not perhaps what they need and ludicrously expensive, but that attack might be enough to get them back in the CL.

If they don't get CL football next season surely di maria/falcao are goners?

Not on those contracts. They'll be lumbered with them until the end. They're really rolling the dice on these signings, aren't they? They've got some ridiculous contracts to service now on players at or past their peak and if they don't get back in the CL soon they'll have no chance of catching up with the more prudent clubs.

Very very high risk strategy. It's worrying and exciting at the same time.

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "A loan deal is agreed for Radamel Falcao to join Manchester United, subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed."

So is it a loan or have they bought him. I'm not happy either way.

Ha Ha - a quick look at RedCafe and they are distinctly NOT happy. They want reinforcements for CB / DM. However if LvG now knows van Persie's injuries are worse than he initially thought then it makes sense.

Really hope Falcao doesn't go to United. It doesn't address their defensive frailties but I still don't want them to sign that monster up front.

Ha. Didn't see that coming. Same agent as Di Maria? Mendez? He made a killing this window.

Quite annoyed by this. I read he'd gone to Real. How come when we're not in the CL we can't attract even some no mark from Slovenia, but these dingbats fail to qualify and they get Di Maria (not arsed about him) and Falcao (fucking ace)?

Falcao will still never have played in the Champions League. Each time he's scored the goals to get his club into it, he's left: Porto then Atletico then Monaco.

Because money talks. They are potentially paying up to £70 million for Di Maria (no-one else was willing to pay that much) and he'll be on lord knows what level of wage; Falcao will cost £20 million in a loan fee and then at least £300k a week. We don't have that amount of cash. And if we did I doubt we'd be spunking it in that fashion.

I Think Di Maria's options were severely limited, PSG wanted him but FFP killed it. Monaco's owner is being castrated by his divorce and wants their highest earner off the books, Real can't take him this year (FFP again) so that basically leaves City or United who are willing to pay over £300k a week in wages.

Most seem to think it is a loaner now so maybe if United fail to make the CL, or Real come in for him next Summer, then he'll be off anyway. For United RvP has to have an operation and could be out for a while so they were desperate for another striker, and it seems would pay anything to get one.

....................Teen wolf
rafael .. some shit....some shit.... fat boy
........................Blind
............Herrera......Mata
Di maria...........................shrek
.....................falcao

That has got to be the wonkiest, unbalanced team they've ever had. The midfield and defence can be waltzed through at ease. Chelski would have got a cricket score against that team if they played it this weekend.

Even better if they stay 3 at the back.

Piss funny if Man city hijack the Falcao deal, they're trying to sell assets like a Michael Jackson yard sale

Like us last season.

Couldn't be more different. We had a team of hungry talented young players coalescing around one superstar in the peak of his career. We destroyed teams with our speed and hard work all over the pitch. They have mostly slow, aging, overpaid players with big egos. Di Maria is the only player they have who is at his peak. They WILL NOT score 4-5-6 goals per game with Falcao, Van Persie, Rooney, Di Maria and Mata all on the pitch. Somebody needs to win the ball first.

In isolation, it's a decent move for them though it looks like it could be pretty costly. They've got money to burn for now and they're desperate, so I can see why they did this. They've just strengthened their strongest area, okay, that's not that much of a concern.

It'll be a good to great move for them though if they're not done in this window and have others coming in to address the key areas of weakness in midfield and defence. Nobody really saw this coming, so I'm a bit wary in case they have some other deals in the pipeline.

I don't think they will either, but I do think people writing off a team with the likes of the above are being a little naive, despite them being short in other areas. That is a phenomenal group of players.

It'll be worrying if they're using this as a siren singing (yes I made that term up), so they can attract other top level players in positions they desperately need them in.
