WHEN Lucho goes…

At the rumoured pittance of a 55k a week salary, he needs all the appearance fees he can get probably.

When I read this thread and the interest in our players shown by Bayern/Barca - would I be right now to think that the only player we have left in our front line will be Salah ?

Nunez - going and definitely not staying
Diaz - Barca
Gakpo - Bayern

The fuck we gonna do ?
Put our brains into gear?

Before everyone piles in on Lucho, do we know what kind of appearance it was? Might it have been some sort of charity do which he promised to attend?

I've seen it was some social influencer based event and he went on the piss afterwards.

Hard to know what's true though, as it's all translated tweets on grok

People react to things differently. I've always wondered why people don't attend wakes/funerals etc but ultimately you can't control how people grief. Or if they don't do so publicly.

Yah not going to judge one way or another, for now. 😉

[Fernando Polo] Luis Díaz is ready to join Barcelona without any guarantees or conditions. He believes Barça can register him. Diaz has always been Deco's top target. Barça know that convincing Liverpool will be difficult, but they will try.

£70 mill, thank you very much!

£70 mill.should just be the starting-point for discussions IMO. I'd be after £85 mill.but would consider settling for 80.

Can see why they'd want him after Musiala's injury.

Someone remind Lucho how it went for Sadio Mane over there.

You don't think we need a slightly more experienced player?

Guess it kind of depends what the plan is with Gakpo/Wirtz and remaining budgets, so hard to call. Cody was starting to step up more and more last year and scoring plenty of important goals along the way. If that continues at LW then we can take a bit more of a gamble with potential.

If Slot has any idea about repurposing Gakpo back to a false 9 - given the loss of Jota and the striker market in general it's not unfathomable - then we'll need someone with more experience. There's been some talk of Rodrigo being available who would be ideal in any scenario, but especially that one.

I think Gakpo is first choice on that LW for the Dutch team right ? - he scores regularly for them, and in many ways he replicated that form last season and it was that slight knock he had that set him back slightly. I think the only issue we have with him compared to Diaz is that Gakpo can become a ghost in a game, where as Diaz is always trying to do stuff (even if it fails). But I think we can take a chance on that wing if we need to with potential.

Diaz was pretty important to us last season. He scored a reasonable number of (important) goals and although he frustrated some, he was one of the few (only) players in the team that could carry the ball. Wirtz obviously offsets his loss but we ideally we aren't stuck with one player that has the ability to run with the ball.

Long winded way of saying if Diaz goes, we need a replacement.

As someone else said. We have Gakpo, Jones and Wirtz who can also play there. Fofana would be a great change of pace option. We also have Rio who can break in there too. So experience isnt something we really need for LW as it stands.

Agreed and has to be someone who can contribute immediately. With Luiz we had 2 positions covered so will be difficult to replace & short on numbers especially if Nunez & Chiesa also leave.

Given Ekitike seems to pull left, I can see Slot happy with Gakpo making driving inside runs into the 9 at times on an interchange…so Ekitike as Diaz replacement…

Like others have said, we have other cover there anyway.

If Diaz in addition to Nunez & Chiesa leaves this summer than we will be left with only Salah & Gakpo as first team attacking options. Wirtz i am counting as an attacking midfielder. Than there is the possibility of Elliot leaving also.

Will need a lot more than just Ekitike & a wide forward to have the squad depth we enjoyed last season.

He won't go. It is unfathomable that the club could contemplate losing (in addition to AM, LB & RB) Nunez, Diogo and Diaz all in one window.

But have fun with those fabricated links from Bild and Barca!

Are those news sources the equivalent of the ones that Madrid uses ? If so, they seemed to know about what 66 was gonna do.

Unless it's mega money and Diaz and his Dad starts acting the cunt, then the club will want to hold onto him for 12 months. He said recently he's fine to happy to stay here and it's in the clubs interest he does. Hopefully we can compromise and say we'll listen to offers in 12 months time and it all stays chill. His attitude and tenacity on the pitch won't subside, so I'm of the view the club needs to put itself first and forth most. We need to replace Jota, Nunez, and possibly Chiesa, this window. There's already two new fullbacks and an AM to integrate, alongside maybe 2 new attackers. That's plenty to be getting on with.

Think he and his agent will push for a move after these latest stories.

I think Diaz wants to go and the club wants him to go.

It's all about building a narrative now to get the game to buy in, and a good price of course
