Gylfi Sigurdsson

There's another aspect to this, if we are beaten to our first attempted signing under Rodgers, & not a big name either, it would send a bad signal out.

When you consider the player's history with Rodgers too then it could also have been read as a slight towards him.

Not that we should break the bank, but not signing him may hold back another potential player or two we have in mind this summer.
If only we had good PR people, it wouldn't matter at all. As it stands, we seem to love PR disasters so your worry may be justified.
I don't really care though. I want to see Suso in that position.

Gylfi's agent wanted his client to join Tottenham. Gylfi remained insistent however on joining Liverpool and has gotten the move he wanted. It's been a difficult choice but Gylfi has made his decision. He will be joining Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool. We're all delighted for him.

Why would be say that on Twitter? Criticising his own agent....

Seriously , is any of this true ? I mean how the fuck can any footballer (or footballer's family ) let their agent even try to dictate such a massive decision to them ? It just seem ridiculous .

No-one has a fucking clue where Sigurdsson's gonna end up. Still think it'll be Spurs myself tho.

To think a few years ago we were signing the likes of Torres, and now we have a 39 page message thread about some guy from Iceland.

That twitter account has only 36 followers. I think it is fake.

Steve Nicol:

"From what I know, the fee that was agreed between Swansea and Hoffeinheim went through the roof as soon as Liverpool were mentioned, and the wages that he (Sigurdsson) wanted totally changed aswell, and Liverpool said, 'you know what, we're ok'. Bullet Dodged".

GYLFI SIGURDSSON is set to sign for Tottenham today after Liverpool balked at his wage demands.
The Iceland midfielder is on the wish-list of Andre Villas-Boas, who is set to be installed as Harry Redknapp’s successor at White Hart Lane in the next 48 hours.
Sigurdsson will cost £6.8m from German side Hoffenheim and returns to the Premier League after a loan spell at Swansea last season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to Bolton midfielder Mark Davies after seemingly missing out on Gylfi Sigurdsson who is on the verge of joining Tottenham.

Rodgers had hoped to be able to persuade Sigurdsson to choose a move to Anfield after enjoying a good relationship with the midfielder when they were together at Swansea.

However, it seems as though the Hoffenheim midfielder is now on the verge of completing a move to White Hart Lane after the German side accepted an offer from Tottenham.

The Daily Mirror has reported that Liverpool are prepared to offer as much as £6million for the midfielder who would be playing in the Championship is he decided to remain at Bolton Wanderers.

Davies, 24, was one of the stand out performers in a Bolton side that struggled throughout the season as he scored four goals and provided plenty of energy in the heart of midfield.

Liverpool particularly struggled in midfield last season as Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing all received criticism for their performances.

Rodgers is keen to freshen up his squad after the Reds suffered a disappointing league campaign and made the decision to part company with Kenny Dalglish.
