Bournemouth post-match

Top marks to Gini. I'm sure that medical condition would have kept Lovren out for at least a month.

Difficult to select MOTM for this match, but Naby probably just shades it:
The Guinean midfielder led the team in tackles (six), possession regains (12), total duels (15) and had more touches (120) than any other player on the pitch.

It was not just about his individual performance – I believe he can still do much better in many areas – but he finally gave us exactly what the team needed: creativity and drive from midfield. Like I said in the match thread, Gini was the biggest beneficiary of this as having Keita pulling the strings in midfield allowed him to make more runs without the ball and get into more dangerous positions up the pitch, which is a better aspect of his game than passing. The midfield balance was spot-on today, but it was Naby who finally added that missing element which allowed the rest to fall into place.

This is also why Keita is better as the "2nd" CM than a "3rd," in other words why he shouldn't be shoehorned into the AOC/Milner role further up the pitch. He should be the one with the ball at his feet while other players are making runs for him, not the one making runs. When he does run, it should be either with the ball or covering space in defense (something he could still improve on).

Liverpool 3 Bournemouth 0: The Match Ratings

GO ‘ed, the boys. That was perfect, that.
Alisson: 7

Made saves when he needed to. First minute fella was good. His starting position is perfect, all of the time.
Milner: 8
Busy as a pip. They are busy, them little pricks. Did he cross it for the first or have I made that up? Yer, he did. Is right, lad.
Big Joel: 7
Scruffy fucker, isn’t he? I mean, everything he does is by the skin of his teeth. Reckon he is a hoarder. House is fucking jam packed. Got abar £600 nicker worth of newspapers as a table in the kitchen. Bath is full of boots. Big fucking massive white fucking boots.
Virgil: 8
Legged it on the break there to try and score, and Bobby just jibbed him instead. What more do you want, though? Perfect at the other end pretty much.
Robbo: 8
Back to his best pretty much after a couple of weeks off, there. Looks like he might have shipped the baby to his mother in laws last night, got a chippy, lashed on Billions and got his head down for a solid eight-hour fella. Back at it.
Gini: 9
The opposite of big Joelly there, isn’t he? The neatest and tidiest of them all. Fucking hoovers up on the way out the house. Kim and Aggie, lad. Send him round to Joel’s with a bucket of Domestos and a brush. Sparkling in about 10 minutes. What a finish for the goal. It was in from the minute he thought about it.
Fabinho: 8
He’s boss, isn’t he? Absolutely fucking booted that little fucker who made a show of us off the bench in the 4-3 first minute and set the tempo thereafter.
Keita: 8
The ball to Firmino for Salah’s goal is sublime. To the extent that Bobby should hit it. For all the world he should hit it. Kept it, moved it, was pretty much everything you want from a midfielder, there. Needs a little bit of luck for a goal to go in.
Mo: 9
Untouchable today. Everywhere. What a finish. Unlucky for the one against the bar, the volley in the first, the fucking state of the referee. One of the best to play for The Reds.
Firmino: 8
Back to his proper role upfront and I’m saying that layoff for the third might be the best thing I have ever seen. I mean, he had no fucking right to do that. The ball from Naby needs hitting. How can you have the state of mind to know your goal hungry mate is on your shoulder there ready to slot? Scandalous.
Mane: 9
The go-to fella at the minute, isn’t he? You need something here, lad? I’m your man. The fixer. Absolute balls on him. He’s in the war room for this league, isn’t he?
SUBS
Trent:

Needs a song. I reckon the Maxi one works with a massive Trent to kick it off. Might need to fuck one of his names off to get a proper song.
The Rest:
Go ‘ed.

There was a girl in front of me who looked like Joe Anderson in drag. I'm having flashbacks about it now.

Definite change in set-up with a return to Salah out wide and Firmino more advanced in the centre and wow what an improvement. Back to the days when we create chances every few minutes and the opponents can't live with our pace and interplay.

Salah is much more than a striker, we have to get him on the ball in space and hopefully this is how we approach every game for the rest of the season.

The press was back as well.

Just saw the highlights on motd.
How the fuck Firmino can serve up that vomit covered turd last week and then do THAT this week is beyond me.
Salah and Firmino were fucking breathtaking there.
The back pass from Firmino is almost physically impossible. He rolls it back with the toes while running at speed!! How the fuck did he do this?

Great game

If only had he slipped in Virgil at the end. A centre half going up there on the break is madness.

Also just watched motd

Gowan mane, he's a proper fighter great emotion after scoring.

Was Salah taking the piss out of shaqiri with the celebration?
Onwards and upwards 13 odd games left, let's just keep winning

The only downside is we reduced the goal difference to 4 when it should be 2.

Great timing for the players to get some confidence and swagger before we head down to Salford Quays. Fuckin’ huge game.

Hope we take our own chef onvthe next overseas training camp and avoid all of our players getting the runs.

The reverse angle had Firmino doing it too so I think it was just a bit of fun.

Excellent game ! Only disappointing aspect was in failing to run up the scoreline. Especially pissed off with Firmino for not passing to Virgil for a tap-in, that was nuts. We really should have closed that goal difference, at the moment that is worth a point to City, we need to erase it.

We could and should have scored more, Bobby failing to play in big Virg for certain goal being the most egregious error. But thats a great 3 points, clean sheet, shaved 3 goals off their goal difference, a couple more results like that and the goal difference will take care of itself.

I don't think worrying about goal difference will help the side.

The way citeh play is all about getting a lot of goals when they're in their best form, but equally they blow hot & cold & I'm convinced they will drop points when we least expect it too.

Going full on for goals, possibly at the expense of defensive solidity is not what we need to do, it only takes a goal conceded to knock a sides confidence, or take a bit of thag swagger away & that's what we need now.

If we keep playing the way we can do we will get the points, & that will win it for us.

Yesterday we could & should have won by more, but that will come, Salah & Firmino were back in fine form, but they're shooting boots weren't quite perfect yet, once they're fully firing again they'll be racking up the goals without having to concede any defensive stability in the process, just be dominating sides & creating chances.
