Barca want to sign PSG’s Marco Verratti and Coutinho.

The question is - what fee would you be willing to sell at, if at all?
Had Coutinho shown enough before his injury to be one of the key players for us next year?

£60 mill and he can leave. He's an incredible talent on his day, but how many games in a league season will he perform at 8/10 or more?
I don't want him to leave, but a big offer would sway me.

Does he have a buyout clause? The cynic in me thinks his new contract was only offered and agreed to guarantee a decent fee for the summer, ala Suarez (i think).

It'll be interesting to read thoughts pre and post this afternoon.

I don't understand why they'd want him

He'd be a bench warmer at best

Hes Super inconsistent .£50m for anyone else, £60m for these fucks

Becaue Iniesta is finished, and he can replace him (with Busquets & Rakitic in the middle 3)

They're heavily linked to thiago at bayern.

Much better and consistent player, more in the iniesta mold

Coutinho isn't good enough for a top side in the premier league, let alone one of the best in the world

Iniesta always found himself on the left side of the front 3 for Barca ... Thiago is naturally more a central player.
I think you're being harsh on Coutinho - he's not as consistent as he should be, but when he's on, he's as good - if not better - than Thiago, who's never had to be main creative force of his team (playing for Barca & Bayern will do that for you though!)

Have they actually been watching him?

Coutinhos name chucked in that story for the sake of it

If they call up asking how much the club should start at £100 million. Try and squeeze as much out of them as possible.

It's already been covered how inconsistent he is and I'd rather have a consistent 7 out of 10 than a player who can range from a 4 to a 10.

Similar to what Squiggles said, we don't really need the money, we need our best players, we should keep him and build with him, I'm not sure why, but I have the feeling that he isn't as set on leaving as the paper seem to suggest.

The thing is he is a world class player and he is already here.

If we had 60 million burning a hole in our trousers right now and we wanted to spend it on a class player like that...we will be going through the same old Shit...he wants to win some trophies, oh he wants to live in cosmopolitan city like london and oh his wife has a hard-on for Spanish dudes...what is the fucking point just keep the world class player who is already here.

This explains the Klopp's 150 million transfer budget ( if that story is true). Coutinho is inconsistent but the least of our players. I hope we stop going down the path of selling a star player and using the money to fix 4 positions. Three of them invariably end up being flops and the one success becomes frustrated after 2 years and leaves for Barca, Chelsea. Coutinho is inconsistent but what we should be doing is improving the squad quality so that his inconsistent periods do not affect the team as much.

This inconsistency thing..

There are hardly any players around that can consistently give 8 or 9/10 performances every single game, and for the very few that exist, they're never coming to us.
I'd rather have six to seven 7/10 players and then fill all the other attacking roles with 4 or 5 Coutinho's, i.e. the ones with special talent that can make something out of nothing, and have the game intelligence like him.

We sell him, it would be a disaster.

Dont think we'll sell him and I doubt Barca are interested. It was confirmed in January that they had no interest.
I'm sick of selling our best players. Keep him.

Coutinho isn't the main creative force for Liverpool, so it's hardly like he's gonna be for barca

I don't buy the bench warmer argument. I think they'd try to mold him into Iniesta's replacement. i.e. the advanced playmaker in the midfield 3.

I think we could live without him for the right fee, but once again we'd be selling one of our better players.

Everyone said Sterling would end up rotting on City's bench but he's ended up being one of their main attacking outlets and plays pretty much every game.

I'm not sure "everyone" said that. Sterling is, and always has been, a very good player.

But City and the Premiership is a different ask to replacing Iniesta in Barcelona's first team
