Ekitike

Only thing Chelsea can offer better than us is wages/contract length
100 million is an insane price though. If Chelsea are willing to meet that, I suspect we will walk away

Anyway, it does show that we’re still in the market for a striker

Maybe we see both Nunez and Jota leave

It is an insane price, but ultimately the player has the most power, and if they prefer us over Chelsea than we can offer a bit less up front

He’s raw enough but has a touch of young Thierry Henry about him….that said we’d be taking a punt on realising raw potential off the back of the Nunez disaster.

Still, if it’s an Edwards / Slot punt…I’m game.

He’s more Freddie Kanoute than Henry. Though I quite liked Kanoute as a player

A little nervous about the fee/quality ratio, but that applies across the board. Ultimately the club need to pick an option that lines up with their plans best. It's hard to scrutinise or assess targets at the minute because we don't know what the plan is for our football. After 2-3 years of Klopp football you could see where players will fit in and have a punt at whether it would work out. We're not there with Slot, so it's very much in a 'trust the process' stage. We all made up of the targets of Frimpong, Wirtz and Kerkez so I'm excited by the direction of travel. I do think we need a striker who is more than just a finisher. There's goals galore in Salah/Wirtz/Gakpo/Diaz, so having someone to knit things together is just as important as putting it in the net. That's why Isak is so desirable. I just hope Ekitike isn't too much of a Plan B rather than waiting for Isak to become available. I do believe something has to be done this window at nine, because both Jota and Nunez are not cutting the mustard. If the nine turns out to be world-class superstar then brilliant, but personally I would have preferred Sesko. There's no huge preference towards any of the names discussed.

I'm keeping expectations pretty mid-tier despite whatever wild fee gets paid.

For the money being quoted he really isn't worth it. I'd understand if he looked ready for the first team and would improve us. But he looks raw, not exactly pacey so i don't get it. There are definitely better options for cheaper price out there. Even Liam delap looks better value.

I dunno. I feel there's more to his game and the variety of finishes and close control shows more promise than Nunez's electric pace and rasping shot

We tend to know what we're doing so if we sign him he'll probably end up being great, but I don't really dig what I've seen so far. Partly I just hate his lanky stick insect style.

Matip up front. I fail to see what's not to love

This is like signing the next Isak instead of Isak.
We have probably been following him since his Reims days early in his career.

I like it. Best option available and fit for us. Just have to get the fee negotiated lower.
Frankfurt appaz keen on Endo and a few other players. Maybe a part ex could be done.

Isak too injury prone to spend 150m on.

Etitike has got similar potential. Just a couple of years younger. I like this move if we can get him for around 65m.

Don't agree with the last two posts, I'm afraid. IMO Ekitike's not the best option available (in my book that would be Alvarez or Sesko, depending on Slot's expectations for the no.9 role) and I'm not convinced he has Isak-level potential either. Interesting times.

100m??? Hahahahaha. They sold Marmoush for like 60m and I already know he's the better player, fuck these cunts.

Strike a deal to get Osimhen in, failing that go for Openda.

Personally I would go for Pedro but if the club does go for Ekitike they've gone over the numbers and done the homework on the guy. I am going to support their decision. Remember when we laughed when Bournemouth bought Solanki and then sold him on for a huge profit. They have data on the guy and they know what system Slot will play next season.
Ekitike is better option than both Jota and Nunez and has scored and assisted more than Pedro, Woltemade (there's nothing to say this guy was even on the radar) or the dozen other #9s I mentioned.

I think we lose Cheesy, Nunez and Jota and get in Ekitike which means we are likely to play more often 4 bods in MF and 2 up front

Not sure Alvarez is the best option when we're signing Wirtz.
