I think Lucas is more like Alonso when it comes to goals and assists. Alonso often got the second last pass in a move that ends up in a goal or start of a move that ended up in a goal. Lucas doesn't get the "assist" for the first or second goals last night, but neither goal would have happened without his two excellent passes. I could be wrong but I think he won the ball back for Shelvey to set us Suarez as well (not too take away from Jonjo's excellent pass).

He's a valuable contributor when he's not trying to wind people up with the superfan bullshit. Definitely provides a bit of balance.
Ok I just finished it. took 6 hours and was riveting from start to finish. There is no evidence to support my theory I think in the end the infighting just took its toll on everybody connected to the club.
My respect for Rafa has risen even more to work in those conditions must have been hell and its his love for the club that must have kept him going in that mad house. Even more than that, I respect the Liverpool fans. The best fans in the world, no question.
And thanks for the kind words which was most surprising, I admit I have made a conscious decision to be less confrontational in my posting style as it clearly got peoples backs up and I'm pleased its been recognised.

I was on his bandwagon early on, but when he started persistently looking out of his depth it made me turn on him. Now with hindsight I think is was Rafa's persistence (whether by choice or due to his inability to create squad depth) in playing him with a defensive partner in Mascherano that affected him the most. However there were a lot of poor performances for Lucas, which makes his progression into the very good performer that he is now all the more sweet. He and Spearing have formed a very good partnership and long may Lucas continue to vindicate Ryan.

I have no problem with Lucas' defenders being smug about it now; I'd much rather see a Liverpool player vastly improve over a number of years proving his critics wrong than seeing a Liverpool player justify his tag of being shit.
I'm not going to apologize for saying that he's had many matches which could be best described as woeful, which even then were lauded as magical by Rawk. Perhaps some might say I know nothing about football but there you go.

I've also pointed out his flaws a fair bit too, but there's a difference between that and "he's a cunt" ala Brendan.
