If Lucho goes…

He's underpaid, and if we wanted to keep him we could have at any point but we need to fund the incomings. We told him in not uncertain terms we would run his contract out and he should fuck off at a good price. I don't know why you'd be angry at him.
Unconvinced he is on the rumoured 55k/week, no one signs for 40m and only asks for 55k/week.

If he is on the 140-150k/week package, I would say that's about right. We could perhaps extend him for 200k/week which is the max I would pay him but he wouldn't want it. It is rumoured it is about 250-300k/week Bayern is offering him which we would not match.

Not really bothered actually as long as we are paid a fair transfer fee. Just pointing out where his motivation probably lies, so even if he stays and finishes his current contract with us he will not be happy.

That's true as far as it goes, but my bet is he'd still give 100%. I'm also less convinced than some posters that it'll be simple to replace him. I like Gakpo but he's still too streaky for me, and I don't know if playing from a starting position out on the left will be the best way to use Ekitike.

Same. If Diaz wants out, he wants out and we should get it done. It's been rumbling on for years now and personally I'm done with it. Now everything is tied up in whatever happens with Isak/Nunez. If we sign Isak, I'll need some convincing Ekitike was the right player to being bring in to play across the forward line rather than a player in the mould of a Rodrygo/Fofana.

Ngumohos progress, and Slots early faith in him, goes someway to alleviate that. I just hope we haven't moved for a plan B when Plan A was starting to become available and now are refusing to pivot. As exciting as this window is, there's a lot going on in a short space of time and there will be some modest spending ahead of us, which adds to a sense of risk.

Hes not underpaid but Bayern will double his wages by your estimate and pay us 70 mil for the privilege?

Again, we could have paid him more but we didn't want to renew his contract knowing he won't be salable at the end. We were very very direct about how we publically said we were not interested in renewing him. If anything we treated him badly, or it's just hard nosed business, however you want to construct it. What it isn't, is him being some cunt, and we get to be morally righteous and say fuck off to our second most important attacking player while getting all excited about all the relatively unproven players we are buying with the money we recoup on his sale.

140k per week isnt underpaid imho and him and his agent have appaz been telling the club he wants to leave for about 18 months now.
'apparently'? Rumours aren't facts and shouldn't be allocated as such. What his spaz father says isn't necessarily Diaz's desire, when his greedy agent does what all greedy agents do doesn't make it a fact he wants to move.

I see it more that he's won pretty much everything he could at LFC, Klopp has gone (and Diaz is no longer certain of his place in the starting team) and Bayern are offering a bucket-load as he nears the end of his shelf-life. It's an attractive proposition.

It's a win win if we buy well. I'm not having fuck off though. I've been sure he was going to leave for a year.

We will miss his quality and especially his work.

It was reported in March 2024 that his agents met with Barca. They were after him all through last summer but a move didn’t materialize.
He’s been open for a move for a long time, but credit were it’s due as JJ says he always gives 100% regardless.

No idea what is with this "Bayern wants to pay him $xxx so he must be worth $xxx" logic.

United pays their dross plenty but nobody wants them.

Bayern Munich isn’t a team I’d ever see him wanting to play for, more the likes of Barca Madrid etc.

I struggle to believe he's on £140k per week. Yeah the low estimate of £50k etc are probably wrong but £140k sounds way too high given all the noise points to him being relatively underpaid.

I didn't see anyone saying that - what people are saying is that £70m for a 28 yo is too good to turn down.

Including game bonuses perhaps.

Could be, I just doubt there's nothing in all the rumours. I saw some interview with one of the local journos recently - can't remember which one - and he said he definitely is underpaid but not to the extent of some of the rumours. That sounds plausible to me.
