Exactly, you've proved my point. If it can only be done via allowable losses then the money can't have been sitting there all along.
Yeah but who wants to lose 200 million quid? Sports washers only.

No, you’re missing the point. Again.
Christ. All I'm saying is we may not have saved as much as people think we have via low transfer net spend thab similar clubs, because we've spent more than those clubs on wages.
That doesn't mean we definitely can't afford Isak or any number of big signings. Just that things might not be as rosy as they first appear.
It's not exactly fucking complicated is it.
No, you’re missing the point. We do in fact have the treasure chest given our financial position, transfers and wages.

Gut feel is they're putting money where the success is. They've been doing shit at rounders for ages. How / why are FSG spending like this when we always felt a player or two short during Klopps time?
Were they saving money until they got a DoF setup they trusted?
Were they just waiting for new investment?
I thought they might be waiting for FFP to kick in and deflate the market but that bubble hasn't popped yet.
But what this guy is missing is the European dimension. For the clubs who regularly compete in Europe, Premier League rules aren't an issue (except for Chelsea). But the UEFA rules bite much harder.
And I know our finance team will be all over this to make sure we comply (or if we miss, it'll only be marginal), but with the potential spending this summer, we're going to need consistent top 4 finishes as a year or two without Champions League revenue could see us fall foul of UEFA's rules. We were probably close the year we dropped into the Europa League, but that was before the current spending spree and new deals for Virgil and Mo.
Nah we will get one or the otherIt will probably end up with both Ekitike and Isak playing for Newcastle anyway.
Just an aside on Ekitike (and anyone else Newcastle might seek to sign), if I were him, looking at them preventing Isak from moving on to better things, I'd wonder if that might be me in a few years' time. I'd either insist on a release clause or try to find another intermediate club that could be a springboard to better things. And I'd probably insist on shit loads of cash so I'm at least well paid if I'm stuck there.
I certainly wouldn't be buying any "Eddie Howe will lead us to European and global dominance within 5 years" bullshit.
So….
We’ll make a club record offer for Isak that will be rejected and while we’re haggling over a lower fee for Ekitike, Chelsea will swoop in and sign him because it’s been over a week since they last signed a striker.
We went 3 windows without spending, after this massive splurge we will be back to sell to buy for the next 2 years. By all accounts by the end of coming season we will generate around £800-850m in rev. I am sure if I am wrong @Beamrider will correct meHow / why are FSG spending like this when we always felt a player or two short during Klopps time?

Doesn't his stats say he's a bit average at best. I don't know why people are getting excited. We’ll get Ekitike is my guess
No, he’s a very similar profile to Isak. Would be a very good fit for us.Doesn't his stats say he's a bit average at best. I don't know why people are getting excited.
