Liverpool January Transfer Window

Klopp when asked about Liverpool signing a new centre back in January: “I don’t think so”. “It all costs money, it must be the right player. Tell me a club that wants to sell a top, top, top centre-half…”.

Well Varane will be available I hear :-d

Joking aside there is the problem. European teams setup their squads in the summer and Jan is generally for the relegation threatened or the injury crisis hit. Even then loans are more prevalent.

If we have a lens on the South American CB market and have a target in mind then ... maybe

I’d have Varane in January, no problem. Could even place him under the Christmas tree.

I've posted this before but the United wages are totally mental and almost certainly part of their discipline problem - it will certainly contribute to their ability to move players on. Top 10 salaries at United as posted by Sportrac

LIVERPOOL’S MIDFIELD REINFORCEMENT: KHEPHREN THURAM ON THE HORIZON

LIVERPOOL’S ASSERTIVE MOVE FOR THURAM

The transfer buzz is alive with the latest reports linking Liverpool to French midfield maestro Khephren Thuram. Italian outlet Tutto Juve have disclosed Liverpool’s firm intention to outmaneuver competitors for Thuram’s signature.
FINANCIAL PLAY: LIVERPOOL’S STRATEGIC OFFER

It’s all about the numbers in this high-stakes game. Liverpool is reportedly ready to table a £30 million bid, supplemented with additional financial incentives, to acquire the Nice midfielder. This offer is aimed at eclipsing Juventus’s valuation, which stands at over 35 million euros for the 22-year-old talent.

JUVENTUS FALLING BEHIND IN THE RACE

Juventus, another heavyweight in the race, seems to be trailing due to financial constraints. With Liverpool’s robust offer on the table, the Reds are emerging as the frontrunners in this transfer saga.

KLOPP’S MIDFIELD PUZZLE: WHERE DOES THURAM FIT?
Liverpool’s midfield has seen an influx of quality players recently, significantly contributing to their impressive run, both domestically and in European competitions. However, Jürgen Klopp’s quest to find a perfect replacement for Fabinho continues. The club has acquired players like Endo and Mac Allister, but the question remains: Can Thuram fill the void as the natural No.6, the play breaker that Liverpool seeks?

YOUR TAKE: ANFIELD’S NEXT BIG SIGNING?

Khephren Thuram’s versatility and skills are undeniable, but is he the puzzle piece Liverpool needs to maintain their ascent? We invite your views: Should Liverpool push their financial envelope to secure Thuram’s services with a £30 million offer plus add-ons?

[/article]

Bollocks. We're not in for Thuram or any other midfielder at this point. This is agent talk, using our past interest as leverage to get him a good offer in the summer.

Oh well.

I'm surprised that Gravenberch is on higher wages than Szobo.

But other than Thiago, our top 10 paid list is quite reasonable and represents good value.

Wages at Bayern are gonna be at least 3x what those getting at Leipzig are on.

Diaz gets 55k a week......maybe he wants a pay rise to perform better 😀

Gravenberch was, allegedly, on the same gross salary at BM but will actually nett less due to different tax rules. Whilst Dom was on £70k/week so he got a good boost

Reports in Sweden linking Momodou Lamin Sonko with a move to #LFC. Looks like he has been on the club’s radar for a while and even attended a trial in 2017. Only 18 years old, he’s got 17 G/As in 29 games in Sweden this season. He’s also scored in the Europa League. Averaging 7.72 dribbles per 90 in the Europa League - which is the third highest among wingers. He’s of Gambian descent and also eligible to represent the African nation.

@Modo Any good?

Where do they get those numbers from anyways?

Based on that table, Alisson is seriously underpaid.

I've only seen him play a few times, mainly because our domestic league is shit. For that reason it's hard to judge him.
From what I've seen I can tell you that he's lightning quick and his close control is top notch. Naturally right-footed, but very comfortable using his left foot too. Plays on either side of the pitch in the LW/ RW role.
In one of the games I saw, he scored an absolute beauty with his left foot, straight into the top corner from just outside the penalty area I believe. I think that's one of the main reasons clubs are interested in him, his ability to get himself into scoring opportunities.

Last season(this year) was his breakout season, scored 7 goals in 21 league appearances.
He was never given a chance in the national team by our former manager but has now been selected in the "January Tour" squad that consists of players from leagues that currently aren't active.
If he joins, will he just slot right in?
No way, not a chance.
The kid is very raw and is currently playing against players that aren't at his level. In the games I've seen he does the obvious kid mistakes, holds on to the ball for too long, makes it more difficult for himself, makes the wrong play etc.
However, if we sign him, we won't be losing any money on the deal.
Can he develop into a PL player? Definitely.
Can he develop into a LFC calibre player? Hard to say. Players like him usually go to the Dutch league to get some experience, before making a "big" move.

Sonko, Roony Barghadji and Hugo Larsson are the future of Swedish football.

Yes, that's what I've seen in the local news too.
Apparently his price tag is between £4-5 mill.
Like you mentioned he was invited to the LFC Academy when he was 12. So we've had our eyes on him for a long time. Hence why we're still in the race.
The question, as always, is about playing time.

Our history with Swedish youth players isn't great... Sjölund, Peterson, Kakaniclic, Astrit Ajdarevic etc.

Gravenberch came from BL whilst Szobo from the Hungarian league. Probably doubled Gravy's salary but a x10 improvement for Szobo!

Haha oh dear. In my defence I'm knackered. Traipsing all over Kyoto day after day, 28k steps yesterday, 20k+ every other day. Up at 04.30 for dawn shots. Brainfarts now par for the course!
