Sturridge and his mental frailty

It's worth noting aswell that it's a massive shift in perspective.

Klopp has come in and been warm, charismatic and charming and has fitted seamlessly into the Liverpool way. So it's fairly ironic that his only friction so far has been with our, arguably, most talented player.

Had other managers called Sturridge out like this would it have had the same response? I think we would have seen much more of a backlash about man-management skills etc. Just an observation, I don't mean it cuntish in any way, it's just funny how a new regime has everyone buying into every decision.

I hope it works and I hope it serves as the wakeup call Daniel needs, he definitely needs either easing or pushing over this mental hurdle.

Klopp gets the benefit of the doubt because of his track record at his previous club and he's shown he can get results here without Sturridge.

Other managers couldn't.

That creep Jeff Stelling, who always sits with quiet respect whilst Nicholas drones on about Arsenal before launching into a moan about LFC, contrived to have a dig at Klopp today, saying: 'He's contradicting himself, saying this about Sturridge even though he also said Sturridge is banging on his door all the time asking to play 5, 10 minutes as soon as possible'. That was Hendo, you smug Hartlepoolian twat.

To be fair, Brendan did much the same last season, and understandably so. A year on and it's likely he would have been even more direct in his message. When the guy has only been fit for half the games he could have played, in his whole career here, that's got to be addressed at some stage. The club's been really sympathetic, but eventually the softly softly approach could well backfire.

Didnt even think there were anything in Klopps comments to discuss either tbh.

Sturridge should know by now that he has to change his mental approach. If not, then he'll be finished in the not to distant future.

Actually a few seasons of gifted but injured often has almost always led to the same fate....one players like Harry Kewell and Owen found themselves in.

Some would have one believe that that business about the Hartlepool monkey is just legend. Stelling is living proof otherwise.

I actually hope he keeps having a pop at Klopp. There's only going to be one winner of that, and it won't be the monkey.

The scan showed no ligament or muscle damage. Which makes Klopps comments even more understandable.

Harsh Mark, having watched the presser I think he was a little bit let down by his use of English, allowing the press to jump on him, and if he was actually being critical of Studge it was gentle chiding rather than a bollocking in public. Where is Dr Peters when you need him eh

Carragher:

It was interesting to see Jurgen Klopp say that Daniel needs to understand what real pain is.

The one thing I remember most of all from being his team-mate is that he had to feel 100 per cent right mentally and physically in order to play.

The thing is, with professional football, it’s not often any player will take to the field 100 per cent fit. There is always a knock or something niggling and when that is the case, you just grit your teeth and get through it. But Sturridge’s continued unavailability is presenting Liverpool with a problem now. If they put him up for sale, every top club bar Manchester City would take him over their strikers, but how long can Liverpool wait for him to be ready? Do the club start to think they need to move him on, to get a good fee and save on his big wages?

Christian Benteke’s arrival was a statement from the owners and Brendan Rodgers that they could no longer rely on Sturridge and it looks as if Harry Kane has overtaken him with England through his consistent availability and his performances.

I’m a massive fan of Kane but a fully-fit Sturridge is better. Daniel’s problem now, though, is that he’s being remembered more for injuries than goals. And he is the only man who can change that perception.

You're better off not watching that program. It's not up to much.

Carragher:
I'm less supportive of him now after hearing that. I've always been sceptical of the opinion that he suffers from a mental problem but it's right there in black and white. I would hope any manager has addressed this matter personally with Sturridge before turning to the press about it. He deserves that at the very least

He deserves a fucking kick in the hole.

Carragher:

The problem with what Carra said is that we almost certainly wouldn't get a good fee for the Studge now. However good he is - and at his best he's tremendous - other clubs would be aware of the reason why we were letting him go, and it would be far more of a buyers' market than it should be for such a talent. That's why I see no prospect of any real benefit in letting him go, at least not until we've exhausted every last conceivable option for sorting him out.

I'm not sure it's *that* big a deal.

I think he's been pampered & treated with kid gloves for too long. Cos he was so good he's likely always been told that he should only play when he's perfectly comfortable ever since he was very young.

I suspect he just needs someone like Klopp to sit him down & say "That's not what professionals do at this level. You don't win titles doing that, you have to play through pain sometimes to become better".

Once he's done it a couple of times I think he'll be right.

Perhaps I'm over simplifying it, but maybe not.

Sell him as soon as possible. IMO not a single player in the squad at this stage of this season can say that he is injury free.

He doesn't care about the club. If we would have given him a £100k a week contract and a £50k bonus every game he played then he would suddenly be much more fit IMO. He will suddenly in March or April be fit so he will get some games before the 2016 Euros. What he care about is the national team not Liverpool FC.

No heart, no passion. When he smiles and dance it is just fake. He want us fans to believe that he care about the club.

Many specialist have searched what is wrong and found nothing.

Unless it's Jesus whispering to him when he shouldn't play.

Is Steve Peters still involved with the club or has he left?
Surely he should have a role in this if he is still here.

Like I say mate, I'm not calling him out over it, I think it's entirely the right thing and regardless of that presser, it's something he's insinuated a few times now. I was just saying that other managers might have got a shoeing for the same thing, I wasn't saying it was wrong.

Hahaha yeah.
Allow this cunt.

You got time to go chicken cottage?
Nah man.
Aaaaii allow it.

New years three years ago me and a few mates were walking home at about 3am when some scrawny chav took two steps across the road, moving away from his group of barely legal breeders to shout "Usually id poke ya, but as its new years, ill allow you", ever since I've just assumed that that term was used exclusively by wannabe Essex boy cunts, its a sad day when that assumption is broken.

So usually he'd have bummed you?

But this time he offered to let you bum him?

It's a tough one, as he's actually been injured as well, needing treatment and surgery.
He really needs a good psycotherapict to work with him. If Peters is still around, then we need someone else.
