I'll be pissed off if we don't win this, but with only one recognised CB it's going to be tricky. Definitely regret letting Klavan go.
Is Nathaniel Philips still injured?

I know...this is like last years game against Burnley...no Klavan this time to save us. Fuck !!!!

I'm less worried about this now than I was previously. We'll definitely see a reaction in this one. First teamers who had the night off will swag back in and show their worth. Only question mark is over CB. I hope Degsy can return as I want Fabinho to start in the middle. I wonder if we would rush Matip back if needed - or play Hoever again with VVD.

Out of nowhere this has become one of the most crucial games of our season. If we win then the City game is in the rear view mirror and the FA Cup game will be written off as a weakened side with other priorities.

If we drop points the pressure will go up another level as City would be within one win of us and the press ranting about a collapse would go into overdrive.

City were unbeaten and then after a defeat to Chelsea dropped points in 2 of their next 3 games. Arsenal had gone a couple of months unbeaten then lost to Southampton and dropped 3 of the next 4. Winning is a habit, so is losing. Its vital we win this one and put the pressure back on City.

Agree. Just the centre half issue. They're all made of biscuits. We need to sign some cover, whether it's loans or older players or whatever. Imagine VVD got injured now.

But we'll batter Brighton

We only won 1-0 at home to Brighton and they shouldn't be underestimated at their ground but this is still a very fine team (and I've more confidence in Fabs at CB than Degsi) ! And more importantly ALL will be well rested and raring to go to put the City game to rest. Klopp will have them well up for this.

I'd start Shaq. ahead of Lallana but the way Klopp has talked up Lallana I think we'll see him start.

............................ Becker

TAA .......... Fabinho ......... VvD ....... Robbo
(assuming no other CB is fit to start)

.............................. Hendo

..................Lallana...............Gini
(Shaq. for me)

Salah .................... Firmino................. Mane

I don't think we'll batter anyone at this point, confidence has obv taken a rather large knock with two straight loses after such a flawless run. A tight 1-nil would do me fine.

Can you please explain why you think the confidence of say Alisson, VvD, Robbo, Hendo, Gini, Salah, Bobby, Mane etc would have taken a 'rather large knock' with the league loss & cup exit?

Nah. Last night will not have bothered anyone and City are City. Do not understand this doom

Will go with above ... though Lallana shouldn't be starting any more games (sell).

I have lost count the number of times we had to wait weeks and months for him to get fit and get hyped up by the boss only to break down for small niggles and then repeat the whole cycle again.

He didn't contribute at all for the whole of 2018, that in itself tells a story. I am not sure why Klopp still has faith in this guy.

There's only Henderson from England. The rest will be like, what cup?

Isn't Gomez looking good for this game? If not, we'll have to go Fabinho again, I guess.

That’s a stupid statement.

9 minimum of the team that will start against Brighton haven’t lost two in a row. Confidence taken a rather large knock me hole

It's a dressingroom thing. Sometimes everyone in and around a club is elevated to new heights as you go on a winning streak. You wimply can't lose games you almost forget how it feels and becomes a meta kind of invincible.

Same goes to other way round mind. Suddenly that tiny fear of losing is sneaking in again and that has happened even for those not playing. No harm done what so ever if we go on and beat Brighton and I guess because of our wonderful start to the season confidence would soon be restored. But a draw or worse a loss and we'd suddenly have to accept that we are no longer "the untouchables" and wobbly legs could become an issue.

I could be wrong but I'd defo take a 1-nil away to Brighton at this stage. Would do wonders for our confidence not taking another knock at least.

Every fan would take 1-0, they don’t get beat my much more than a goal at home but our confidence is still sky high.

If anything that performance will lead to a little complacency but confidence is the least of our worries.

You're taking a battering for this so I'll not add to it. No doubt the usual clique will agree with you though.

Ha ha. Seriously the cup will have zero bearing on our main squad.
Maybe. A loss is still a loss and sometimes they can impact the psyche of a team. I hope I am wrong.

*I was mainly stating that I don't think we'll batter them, which I really don't, but I do still think we are favoruites to win. We are just entering banana-skin territory here..

Fuck me. It's not just about confidence, it's the pressure of knowing we've lost two and have to put it right and win. I'm not saying its all doom and gloom, but it's a factor as proven by any other side in this position who's had a couple of bad results. You lose two, it effects your thinking and that's when it effects decision making on the pitch, causes hesitancy and anxiousness. It's Brighton and I'm sure we'll be fine like.

What clique? I have no clue of what you are talking, and you also say I am "taking a battering" because Dreambeliever disagrees with me? Wow things have changed on here if that's all it takes.. *wink*

If Matip can play (latest comment seems to be that he is in full training and working up to contact) then back to 4231 for me

-------------Alisson--------------
TAA---Matip---VVD---Robbo
---------Gini-----Fabs-----------
-------------Shaqiri--------------
-------------Firmino-------------
------Salah-------Mane--------

100% won’t be an easy game but on the flip side if we can’t go there and win when Chelse and Spurs have then we aren’t as good as we hoped.

I think we’ll win but with a big scare

Just DB ? Not LTW and Woland then ? 😀

Except 90% of the team didn’t play, we basically gave up on the cup with the team we picked. It’ll affect nothing.

Ha. Have I unintentionally stuck my hands into a bee hive here? I have no clue why they came at me claws out, I thought I was kinda stating the obvious. I am not even laying blame on Klopp for the team against Wolves, heck, a part of me was even thinking like "let's lose this one so we can use all of our strength on the league and the ChL".
