Cordoba was a dirty swine. Is Zapata a tough bastard Roopey? So Comolli found a player he didnt see on MOTD, ha. Haters gonna hate.
Not at all.

Udinese play one of the most attractive style of football in Europe ... I'd honestly put their style 2nd in Europe only to Barcelona.

And you can't play that way if you have dirty centre backs ...

What I meant with the Cordoba comparison was the mentality and style of defending ... he's a physical lad, plays with aggression, but someone who doesn't plays dirty.

Only got 6 yellow cards (no reds) last season.

The Greek did earn himself another year. I think it was in his contract that if he played a certain number of matches he would be offered an extension or something like that. I could of sworn I seen him pass me on a motorbike the other day.
Dunno if it still applies, but when redknapp used to play for us the players had a a few things in their contract they couldn't do, namely skiing, extreme sports & riding a motorcycle.

Redknapp should have had "Playing for England" added to that list.

I think by publically saying he's close to joining us he's trying to force other clubs into going for him.
That's the spirit sheikh.

Never noticed him myself but am pleased to hear Roopy and Hasnern's assessments.

Is he a beast in the air?

SIGN!

I reckon the chances of us signing him are 2% on The Ryanometer.

You forgot the 'he probably wouldnt be any good anway,we need Premiership proven'

Is anyone else beginning to suspect that the list of players we keep hearing about (the Downings and Wikhams and the Danns) are Dalglish's favoured options that he may have a gren light to work on but that none of the ITKs have a scooby who Comoli is actually working on?

Yeah. I think it's funny how people assume that any mediocre player we're linked with must be a Comolli target, while the more favourable ones are attributed to Kenny. I do have faith in Kenny, but he's made his fair share of howlers in the transfer market, particularly in his later jobs.

I also think that FSG are influencing things, with the number of young and/or British players we're being linked with.

Good point Del.

It could also be the case that many ITKs are getting their info directly or indirectly via players representatives and agents in the UK, which may explain why no one seems to have much of a clue what overseas-based players, if any, we're going to sign (except Marvaux, who no one had heard about until he visited Anfield last season).

I'm not talking about our own SCM sources here, I don't want to be seen to diaparage them and I appreciate their tidbits, I'm talking about the twitterati and many newapaper hacks.

My thoughts as well though I hope we're wrong. If he was close to signing and had been in contact with the club and nothing had been leaked to the media then sure as fuck that's how the club wanted to do the deal.

Version 1

Asked about his future by La FM, he said: "I do not know what to say, I can say that I am very close to Liverpool.

"At the end of the Copa America, we will see what happens with my future.

"I have gained experience, but the time has come for me to make the jump to a big team."

Version 2

"I don’t know anything for sure, all I can say is that I am very close to Liverpool," he told La FM. "We will see what happens with my future at the end of the Copa America.”

"I have gained experience,” he continued. “However, the time has come for me to make the jump up to a big team."

If he's close and decided, why wait till the end of Copa America which is ends 24th Jul, more than a month from now?

He went public about the interest in him 2 yrs ago (2009) - and nothing has happened :-[.

"Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan, Arsenal and Villarreal have requested information about me," said Zapata. "There are many teams that are keen to sign me but an official offer has not been made so far.

"I think if a good offer arrives then Udinese will have to consider it.

"But the club don't need to sell me immediately."
