Isakly what we need

The transfer fee is irrelevant imho. Its weird that its supposedly more excusable to be unfit after no pre season if the fee was 20 mill.
Course it is relevant, more money you spend then more scrutiny on it. If he was 20m then less eyes and less pressure to perform, bit strange you don't see that. So why is he not fit? I don't quiet get why he isn't fit, same excuses were given back in October and were more plausible then but still didn't buy it back then.

It is very relevant because we have bought a player in his peak 2 - 3 years, and lost half of 1 of those years due to lack of fitness. Inexcusable.

His best game was West Ham away. I find it difficult to be disappointed with a player that hasnt been fit yet and that we havent utilized to the best of his abilities yet either.
Both Ekitike and Isak will look better as our vocal points of attack. Without Salah.
They sing?!

*Checks to see how close V is to F on the keyboard.

He's a fantastic player. Maybe the fit isn't right, I don't know. But I haven't written him off yet. He needs to sort out the injuries and fitness though.

He is shite now, that is for sure. But have a look at the video above. No way that lad suddenly becomes shite and stays shite.

It is funny.
I almost get the feeling that people who like to point out that our top signing is a dud, would like to be right in that assessment as they keep having a go at him. That is a weird thing for me.

That is silly, no one wants a dud 130m signing and we definitely can’t afford two with Wirtz. Currently the concerns are about his current level of energy and pressing over his obvious lack of involvement in goals and chances.

Id be surprised if anyone wants him to fail. There's a difference between wanting him to fail and expecting him to fail

I work with a Newcastle fan and he's loving the fact he's been a bit shit.

Which points to him scoring the winner against Newcastle.... 4th goal in the 98th minute of a 4-3 thriller.

It's not a case of 'wanting him to' or 'expecting him to'.

It's that once posters here (everywhere?) take a stance they are unlikely to change it and put a hand up to say 'I was wrong'.

I mean look at the Salah apologists ! SCDNW. Or the Nunez haters or more recently Gakpo haters. Once someone becomes entrenched in a their position towards a player they'll stay silent when they do well up until that player does something to warrant their ire and then it'll be 'told you so' or they'll be all over his mistake as a vindication of their stance.

Human nature?

To be fair, Salah Apologists have 10yrs to build that position and not 3 months. Salah fans or apologists (if you are a hater) exists mainly to counter the revisionism and false hate spouted on here and it's obvious it winds certain posters which is even better.

I don't think it's a lot more complex than Salah and Isak have both been fucking shite this season. The minute they aren't, they aren't... But they are.

That is very hopeful, based on what? He has played a few times instead of Salah and offered nothing so far. Why is it upto the team to use him correctly? if you join a top team then player is often the one expected to fit in, not other way around. He can only improve at this stage.
Have you seen any form of pattern or system with the team this season? It's been disjointed, sloppy and we've neither been a possession side nor a side that has created much in the way of clear cut chances. Of course it works both ways. He hasn't been great, but lets not act like he's walked into a side that's functioning on any level. It's a fucking mess. You know that, we all know that, so it's a bit myopic to ask "why is it up to the team to use him correctly?". In fact, it's downright daft and unfair. A team shouldn't be spending over £100m on a player and then struggling to support him. It also doesn't help that his future is very much with two equally new players, it will take time for all parties to develop an understanding, something that we all unfortunately have to be patient with, it will take some indulgence to get there.

I keep using the Firmino comparison with Wirtz, but it's absolutely true. Fans had given up on Firmino by the absolute bucket load just a few months into his time with us. Then look what happened. They absolutely can fail, but there are a myriad of reasons why it hasn't worked out so far and it's not all on your lofty expectations of Isak walking into a fresh team and system (that's new to him AND us) and hitting 30.

There aren't many Salah haters and if there are, we know they are generally retarded anyway. As for Salah apologists, I think they are mostly within their right to defend a player with his record for us.
