NEVER DOUBT ME

I had forgotten about this. I’m sure loads have receipts on me. I was looking for something else and this post popped up.

This would be annoying. I've already decided Gravenberch is the talent we could build a midfield around for the next ten years.

Nailed it!

He put in a performance against Arsenal last season that i rate lower on effort and heart than Trent’s stinker against United.

However he’s learned from it clearly and is a key part of how we play.

My concern with him at Ajax wasn’t just that the league was poor, but that he might end up as a Pogba-type midfielder, someone immensely talented, but hard to define. At a time when systems are more important than ever, that lack of a clear role meant he could drift. We saw that happen at Bayern, and again under Klopp. Slot has arrived at just the right time, not only to revive his career, but to remind everyone of the elite player Gravenberch has the potential to become, and for that, every morning Ryan should be kissing that shiny Dutch head.

Very tidy player who’s found game time hard to come by because Kimmich and Goretszka are 2 of the worlds best in their position and are never injured.

Him now and Andre in Jan would set our midfield for the next 5-6 years.

Welcome on board lad.

All in all a decent window, enough in the kitty to do a few things in Jan if needed.

He's gonna be a better signing for us than Caicedo/Lavia for Chelsea.

This is exactly why we had to doubt @MomoWASright

I can confirm you were one of the early backers for Grav, you wouldn't shut the fuck about him. It seems you like me backed Andre too who turned out to be quite shit.

TBF He does his research. I backed Nunez and young Fabs before we got them, I also backed Danilo, Andre, Nunes ( Man City), Ugarte before they all went to big clubs. So he has got way more right than me

This is why I try not to speculate on anyone we sign. I wait to see them and only then call them shit.

Still don’t think he is that good as made out to be. Brilliant first half of the season but totally meh since. Compared to Endo, peak Vierra though in that position for us.

Has he really been that bad in the second half of the season?

I think teams targeted him more to make things more difficult, which may have had the knock on effect of giving Mac a bit more space to operate in, but I don’t think he’s been poor at all.

I think the issue has been how obvious the drop was, his ball retention in the big games since including 2 against PSG. He is 22 and needs to be able to handle the work load which at the time compared to other similar positions wasn’t tje excessive. But primarily, we need a good back option to if he is unable to do this next season, Endo is clearly not it for our level.

Yeah but he's never played this many games and definitely not at this intensity. Thank fuck we're not in that club world cup and our players will get a month to chill instead.

When Trent decides to run with the ball he has to have Konate to his rear and Grave to his left so if and when he loses the ball they are their to win it back. You have two players going out of position so one player can be indulged. This will exhaust any player
I am hoping next season, we will see a more balanced squad with Trent's departure
