BREAKING: Tottenham Hotspur have held initial discussions with Brentford about a deal for Bryan Mbeumo 🚨

Mbeumo is understood to be more intrigued by a move to Tottenham now that Thomas Frank has become their head coach.

Would be sooo funny if they lost out to Spurs again.

On the other hand, he could also be another mediocre overpay for United.

His stats are really really good. But he's over performed xG. And also just really doesn't scream out to me that he's as good as his stats suggest

I think he's very very good. Wouldn't have been upset if we'd signed him.

More importantly, there's not a lot of players queuing up to play for Utd now, regardless of fee.

Miss out on Mbeumo and Gyokeres, amd they'll be in big trouble.

It’s a fun situation watching them.

If Amorim doesn’t start the season well, I can’t see how they stick with him long - any hint that they’ll produce the sort of results they did in the second half of the season and they’re back to pushing the re-set button.

I get the feeling Amorim is putting his eggs in a basket of new strikers in the hope they can score enough to get some results while they keep it tight in midfield and they’re back.

Thing is - I think their midfield and defence is as bad as their forward line and long may Onanna stay in nets.

Crying shame innit.

It's unfortunate that you can't keep Man U down permanently. They're still one of the richest clubs in the world. They'll be able to continue throwing money at the problem until they're back on top.

No that is not their situation. They (as Beamrider has outlined I believe) are riding the razor-back now. They don't have a lot of money to throw around, must be very aware of PSR and unless they get a cash injection from somewhere are going to struggle to attract / afford top players.

It's easy to see them wallowing mid-table for years. In their favour though is zero Euro football next season. Top 6/7 will still be a stretch though. especially if you look at last season's Top 10.

Sadly next season Brentford, Bournemouth, Wolves, and maybe even Palace will all be in transition/ rebuilding mode. Can see Utd getting a European spot

I know, its very sad, but they have good coaches, so maybe they can get good replacements and still compete next season like this last one otherwise its gonna have to be a sesson where draws will be like losses for those competing for the title.

Hey ... it is the circle of Premier League footy.

Ok, lets hope so

Wolves and Brentford sure.
But Bournemouth still have Iraola coaching them and so far they've only lost Huijsen and possibly Kerkez.
Palace will basically have the same team next season.

What a touching story from Rio… Only fitting that Gyokeres told Utd to do one today and that he isn’t interested.

Rio Ferdinand comments on the Viktor Gyökeres transfer saga:

"I would be giving Frederico Varandas nightmares until we had a deal for him to let me go. I did that at Leeds. I heard that Man United were interested in me and I knew Leeds had to let me go. I went to the chairman's office and said to him: 'Listen, I know you need to sell me, we're not going to haggle over a few million here or there. Make a deal'. I was there for hours waiting and he finally did the deal...

I'll tell you what, I would be in his [Frederico Varandas] office and he wouldn't be able to leave. I would be in his bed, in the front bedroom, in the kitchen. He wouldn't be able to get me out of his sight."
