Almost time to move on from another pointless international break.

Away to Burnley, but not the Burnley we used to know. Will be interesting to see where Szob fits in with Bradders fit and Frim close too.

For me I’d rest Macca although he was unused sub for Argentina so is getting some good rest.

Alisson

Bradders
Konate
Virgil
Kerkez

Gravy
Szobo
Wirtz

Salah
Ekitike
Gakpo

Alternatively I’d bench Wirtz and play Szob AM, and let Wirtz have final 30 mins to impress.

Isak on bench hopefully and 10 min cameo

I'd play the same team as last time but it probably depends on the timing of players returning from games overseas

Not too long ago Szobo was slagged off frequently and no one was against Wirtz replacing him in midfield. Now after 2 good games at RB he is suddenly flavour of the month? Ok.

Unless there are any injuries to key players, it's quite clear to me that Brizzle's lineup is the one we'll go with.

Argentina have already qualified so Macca might play tonight because he sat out the last game.

I think this'll be the team simply because any South Americans don't get back until late Thursday.

Alisson
Bradley Konate Virgil Kerkez
Szobo Grav Mac
Wirtz
Isak Ekitike

Nyoni on for Mac 60'
Gakpo on for Isak 60'
Rio on for Wirtz 80'
Endo on for Grav 80'
Mo on for Hugo 90+5

Thank fuck! play wirtz and dom at RB. Why change a winning formation and team?

Maybe Szobo in midfield if Macca is knackered or whatever and Bradley back in. It's a game for Wirtz to step up, otherwise, we may need to start tactical tinkering. We main thing is we need to keep the ball and pin teams back for longer.

I don't want Slot to start getting "Milner type" ideas regarding Szobo, he's not a fullback.

I have a strong feeling that Jones will start against Burnley, considering that he's been resting for two weeks.
We play in the CL three days later.
That's also a good reason to play a RB at RB.

Bradley played the full game against Germany. He will be back against Burnley.

Jones shouldn’t start. Macca looked a bit tired in the Argentina game. Think he’ll be on the bench against Burnley and then start against Atletico.

“No one was against…..”. I have maintained my faith in Dom since day one and IMO he should always be one of the first names on the team sheet. Added to this……we still haven’t seen the best of him yet!

The issue with Dom is he's only really useful for his running power/engine tank (+ the odd free kick). He's spend 2 years playing different kinds of roles in midfield and flattered to deceive for 90% of that time. Generally less is expected of a FB than a midfielder, so perhaps he's best showcasing his traits in that position.

I like Szoboslai as well but let's face it, besides a number of good games sporadically, he could never maintain his performance in the past 2 seasons. He could turn out golden eventually for sure, but the fact is we had bought Wirtz, or at least Slot did, because Szobo wasn't hitting the level Slot would like his number 10 to be. He runs non-stop but does he produce consistently?

That fact is not going to change with 2 good games at RB. He has loads to prove in midfield and does not automatically deserve a spot in midfield just because Wirtz hadn't hit the heights. Szobo hadn't done it in 2 seasons as well.

Isak needs time to bed in at Liverpool

After missing pre-season through protest, Alexander Isak got his way and made the move to Liverpool. The Premier League champions paid a record sum to acquire the striker but it might take time for him to get up to speed. The Sweden international did not feature against Slovenia for his national team, spending the match as an unused substitute, but he did come on in the 2-0 loss to Kosovo, making it an underwhelming start to the season for Isak. Liverpool have plenty of matches to ease Isak into his new surroundings and are helped by being the only team with a perfect start to the campaign, with three wins in as many games. Starting at Turf Moor looks unlikely for Isak but coming off the bench is almost a certainty. Patience may be required before Liverpool see the same effectiveness he brought to Newcastle, however. WU

Arne Slot on Alexander Isak making his debut: "The Swedish manager [Jon Dahl Tomasson] deserves a big, big compliment because he gets maybe the best striker in the world and he needs to play two very important games for his country but understands that if he would play him twice for 90 minutes then the player would be injured for multiple weeks and that is not always easy for a manager that he takes care of the interest of a player.

"We will treat Alex [Isak] the same as they did so don't expect him to be [playing] every single game 90 minutes on the pitch as that is definitely not going to happen in the upcoming weeks.

"He missed a proper pre-season and I think he missed three to four months of team sessions so now we have to build him up gradually with us playing so many games. That is going to be a challenge but we have not signed him for the next two weeks we have signed him for six years and the fans have to keep this in mind."
