The final leg of the most important trio of games so far this season. One last push before the international break. I can’t see many changes yet again.

Mamardashvili
Tayto Terrier
Konate
VVD
Robbo (although I could see Kerkez starting based on Robbo’s minutes)
All gravy baby
Slobs
Big Mac
Salah
Tekkers
Gakpo

Isak may make the bench. Otherwise it’s whoever is fit.

Agreed. I'd be looking to get Wirtz in the forward line around ~60 minutes, because he should have fresher legs than Ekitke and Salah.

I think there's also a chance Jones starts for Mac, fitness depending.

I really fear that Slot is going to start experimenting again.
But I really do hope he keeps the same midfield and Robbo on the left.
He can do whatever he wants with the front three.

Possibly so, but Mac is back and I’d like to play him from the start again and sub him when he flags

This is the game that'll determine whether or not we're part of any title race or not. Lose and it's a 2 horse race, draw and the title is over for everyone, win and it's a 3 horse race.

Mamardashvili
Bradley Konate Virgil Kerkez
Szobo Grav Mac
Salah Ekitike Wirtz

It’s not a three horse race mate. Arsenal are us from last season.

The title race is done regardless of the result

Xhaka is gonna leave a couple of late 2 footed challenges on their players this weekend, it's all gonna sort itself out, but we gotta do our bit after.

Their over reliance on set piece goals the last 15 months is far more likelier to dry up than finding Mo to come up with one moment.

One thing that favours playing Wirtz is that City is more of a technical side, not reliant on physicality and strength. It can feel like more of a European tie that Wirtz can do better in, as we saw last night.

Gakpo does have that knack of popping up with a goal in tight contests, though.

We need to stick to a conservative style of play and hit them on counter. There's no reason to change the team that dominated against madrid

Same team.

City will try to dominate possession as RM did last night. Wirtz outran practically the whole RM team, more than 1km further then Szobo FFS!

Wirtz should start and sub him off when he starts to flag.

Same as Madrid for me.

City without Rodri are poor with the ball at the back. We should bring our best press to the party and that is Szobo, Wirtz & Ekitike.

Gakpo against tired legs is a great option.

Maybe a couple of fake injury subs on 85 for Macca & Gravy.

Presuming Isak will miss this, and hopefully the internationals. We need to get him fit in the break and ready to go all guns blazing when we return.

I would go with the same team as started against Real, but with Jones instead of Macca - a bit of freshness in midfield will be welcome and Curtis has a lot of experience battling with City and deserves a start. Definitely keep the left side of Robertson-Wirtz; they combined so much better than Kerkez and Gakpo had all season it’s unreal.

The game against City will surely be tight and having in-form Macca as well as Gakpo and Isak ready to come off the bench to change things up will be quite useful.

I think he will be there to make up the numbers. Won’t get on unless it’s in desperate need.

"He will train for the first time today with the team again, after being three weeks out," Slot replied.

"I know that I said three weeks ago that his pre-season has ended so now it's time for us to see where he is. But I have to come back to those words, because if you are three weeks only with the rehab, that doesn't bring you back to the levels he was three weeks ago.

"Although, our rehab team is doing an incredible job.

"But you cannot compare rehab with games of football or training sessions with the team. As much as we try to replicate it, that's simply not possible.

"So, again I have to say, give him some time."

Rampaging Haaland takes on champions

“Stop Erling Haaland” is surely the mission for Liverpool as Arne Slot plots to execute a repeat of last season’s win at the Etihad Stadium, when goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai secured a league double over Manchester City. The Norwegian No 9 has netted 27 times for club and country, including 13 in the Premier League, yet zoom out and the timing of this fixture should please the leaders, Arsenal, whose advantage is six points over City and seven over Liverpool. If Mikel Arteta’s side can beat Sunderland on Saturday then any result on Sunday in east Manchester would benefit them, with a draw probably ideal. Jamie Jackson
