Southampton lost 3-1 today. Sitting 19th. That side should be able to beat whatever team they bring.
I think this will be the lineup.
Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Macca start and then get subbed early in the first half. I also doubt we'll see Isak play the full 90 minutes.
One thing is clear: he has to play Chiesa or I'll start calling Slot Lex Luthor.
where does that cup team finish in the pl? europa league places? maybe just short in midfield.
I'd rather Ekitike started this one, if it meant Isak could start against Palace.

Yeah midfield wouldn't stand up to the rigours of the PL. 15th or thereabouts?
If Isak against Palace is part of the plan then I think we could see 45 mins each here and then say 60 mins for Isak from the off vs Palace.
I think he will play Wirtz. This is the type of opposition where Wirtz might be given more time on the ball

He's not on the injured list (no-one is!) so I guess it would depend on his recovery progress. Would be nice to see him back ASAP as another option to give Gravy rest minutes.
Possible of course as he needs to get his minutes up. I think he'll deffo start vs Palace however so maybe as a sub in the Saints game?
Zero, I think. He’s not training with the first team and hasn’t played for the U21s either. I really hoped he’d make it at the club, but everything suggests to me that he’s done.

I said it the end of last season that the last injury meant his time was up. He needed to be fully fit coming into this season to have any chance of making it here. He wasn’t, now he’s behind everyone by some margin and won’t get any game time to prove his worth.
I love his passion, effort and he has so much skill and great finishing. I'd love it if he became our de facto #3 striker covering for injuries and low value matches.
That's what the sources say, but I watched training vids (supposed to be as recent as 4 days ago), and he wasn't training with the team. Could see Leoni, Nyoni, Ngumoha and Danns though. Maybe he has an individual program for strength training and conditioning and only joins some of the team training sessions.
Exactly. Just noticed that the kid turns 21 tomorrow. He won't be anywhere near the first team I think, until he plays a few game with reserves.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Macca, Wirtz & Isak start - Slot is a pragmatist, if nothing else, and if he thinks minutes will help them find form - then he’ll play them.
Not saying I agree, but I can see the logic.
Marma, Gomez, Leoni, Endo, Cheesie & Rio should be definite starters and it’d be nice if Nyoni got a start too, but at least some minutes for him and Danns would be nice.
