So what's the deal here?

It's like we've suddenly become a team of Riise's only without the accuracy.

Fair enough we're struggling to create chances but from start to finish we had players taking pot shots. What is it? Instructions? Selfishness? Everything?

It's fucking shit.

Riise and accuracy don't go together actually. Yeah, he scored a few scorchers, but one of the pet peeves I had about him was that the goal against Man Utd seemed to create an illusion in his mind that he was an accurate long-distance shooter.

As for the team - I don't think it's playing instructions but rather the player themselves. Balotelli came to the club with a higher outside shot to inside shot ratio at Milan (could be the same in City too, can't quite remember), and as we've seen, he's been busy lashing them way off target for fun. Coutinho's always been lashing them from outside the box when he got frustrated, even last season. I don't think we plan for that - just players getting impatient when things aren't going for them.

Frustrating to see, because on the replays, you can often see their team mates making runs or in positions to receive the ball in / around the box and not getting them because the player in possession thinks he's got the right to shoot on sight (Balotelli) or thinks he's just going to try one because it isn't Suarez or Sturridge dashing into the box.

The technique (and temperament) for players of this standard is absolutely woeful. In the first half there wasn't even much pressure before players shot and they were still leaning back and hoofing it high and wide. God knows what they do in training but it's not shooting practice.

Big difference between scoring from long range in training and doing it in front of 45,000 people in the throws of a real game no?
I agree it is woeful mind.

I know, but you might as well say that about everything done in training. They have to work on it somehow.
