With Ings and Sturridge almost certain to leave. Origi is clearly not good enough and hopefully sold.
Should the club by a proper CF or just promote Brewster and give him more games in the hope he comes good?
If the club does decide to dip it's toes in the transfer market for a striker, who are the likely candidates?

No chance of getting a striker. I have a feeling we will stick to Origi..Solanke...and get Brewster to have a go. I have a feeling that Klopp is after just creators from midfield now...and maybe get some defensive cover.

Striker isn’t a priority with 3 goal scoring forwards and youth backup. I’d be surprised if the club invested in that position purely for the bench considering the areas we do need to spend money on.

We need a goalkeeper, a CB, another quick attacking midfielder/ winger and a striker. Four quality additions.
Reasons:

1) Der Klown is fucking shite
2) Lovren is prone to disaster and Matip isn't good enough, so we're light in that vital position, with only VVD of genuine proven quality
3) Chamberlain is crocked, Lallana is a squad player, we never replaced Coutinho and we have no cover for Mane or Salah. Hence our interest in Fekir.
4) We need quality options up front. At the moment it's Firmino or nothing. Ings, Solanke and Origi are useless. It's a vital position to strengthen.

Ideally, yes.

Goalkeeper and defender have to be the priorities though.

I think we'll get 1, 3 and 4. Don't think we'll add a CB.

Brewster will get some chances. Solanke came here to prove himself rather than go out on loan. I think he should get another season to do just that, and then he can either stay or be sold. Outside of the regular starters, however, that leaves us really thin in terms of attacking options. It would be good if we could get a Riedle type for a season or two, in terms of experience and attitude (but with the addition of a better strike rate), but we certainly need to strengthen that aspect of the squad.

Neither do I, and I'm not at all convinced that 1,3 and 4 will be anywhere near the quality we need.
Because £££££
Let's see. My main concern is the shortened transfer window rather than the lack of £££££. I think we'll have enough to spend on the quality we need as long as we've identified the targets, and made some headway on the negotiations.

With the World Cup ending on July 15, and the transfer window shutting on August 9, that gives us just 3 weeks to tie these 3-4 deals. That's just not going to be enough unless we've already sewn them up Fabinho-style.

I don't think the club are going to prioritise a CB. There've been zero rumours and Lovren has been excellent in many games, witness the CL final against one of the toughest attacks in Europe. All CBs fuck up, it just needs minimising and maybe he is on that road, his confidence certainly is.

I agree that they won't. But they should.

5) Without those additions, we are not in a much better position to viably compete in all available competitions. If all we get is Shaqiri, then the 2018/2019 season will be another trophyless season I’m afraid.

I reckon if we got 3 of the 4 we'd be alright

I don't believe we will however. Hell, I don't think we'll sort 2

I don't even think we'll sign a keeper. An attacking midfielder definitely. The rest I'm unsure about.

That's where I'm at. Another attacking mid who can do a job up front and wide

Probably just shaqiri

I think it’ll be Solanke and Brewster. Fekir jr sinilarbas back up for the AM or firmino. If anything we might buy another mane/Salah type.

If we bought a top central striker then I don’t think Solanke and Brewster would get a kick in the league or CL.

We’re already a different proposition with the two top class midfielders that have come in.
If we were prepared to pay 60 odd mill for Fekir, surely we’ll be in for another top class attacker.
Backup winger and forward is what worries me. We’ve not been linked to many.

Why are we still talking about Fekir... I thought that boat had sailed and gone? He has a suspect leg, why take the risk? There are other attacking AM we could look at surely?

Does Fekir play that far forward?

He has done, though not extensively as far as I know. I think his ability to play up front is part of the reason Klopp reportedly wants him so badly... we really need an acceptable second choice to give Bobby a rest when needed. And Firmino hadn’t played that much up front when we signed him either.

Fuck knows who we’re looking at for GK now - but we’re clearly still in the market for one.

CB - Lacelles & Tarkowski have been kinked - can’t say I know much about either, but it’s probably the least pressing of the 4.

Fekir, if the transfer gets re-ignited can be finalised quickly - it was all but done and Shaquiri shouldn’t take long to complete given it’s a release clause.

Is Shaquiri ideal... probably not, but he’ll offer something and the addition of Brewster to the mix could be useful.

Just seen the news forum and we have agreed a fee with chelsea over Solanke. You never know ... but now that we have agreed the fee maybe he will be instructed to go all out and score freely and have run outs with the fab 3 more often.
