Wharton Earth

I like him a lot, more towards the £65M than £80M, though, but fuck knows how much anybody is worth anymore. We blew the market even further.

With the likely exits in the summer of Gomez and Robertson, following Trent last summer. We will need a few more home grown faces amongst the first team.

The likes of Wharton or Anderson seem to be the only quality options of the right age, anywhere on the pitch in the current market.

He's better than what we have, consistent, more of a physical presence than any of our other midfielders bar Endo, and better at passing from deep than any of our other midfielders. Macca and Jones are too inconsistent to hold down regular places, though Jones has improved this season. Szobo isn't a good enough passer. Neither is Gravy. I'd be happy if we signed him, he's good.

He wouldn’t be 70 million improvement on Macca. Should not be a priority.

He certainly shouldn't be valued higher than Eze IMO. I think he would be a superb addition to the squad though

He's miles better than anything Mac Allister has been this season. We also cannot continue to run Grav and Szobo into the ground. Wharton isn't the biggest priority, but it does address a need for me. The question is at the expense of what else? I would have put landing either one of Semenyo or Guehi ahead of Wharton, TBH, and right now, just about any CB with a working pair of boots and lungs.

He adresses one need, the passing from deep, while not improving us in a more critical area, defensively in midfield.

Maybe Xabi can bring Tchou with him

Yeah, I'm more assuming that the number boys are thinking about cashing in on the £35m investment (Mac A) to get a nice pot of cash for this Summer's parties.
