Maybe....1 more Italian?

Maltese cousin, but he's sufficiently in touch to get to some home games. BTW judging by some of the comments Fabrizio gets on here, not everyone would say the same! 😛

Makes sense doesnt it. We've got Van Dijk's long term replacement, who can come in and learn under VVD himself for a year or two. We've also got Guehi to challenge Konate and provide relief when he inevitably gets injured.

Surely this means Gomez is off? Or does Gomez stick around as right back cover?

And the rest. He can cover well right across the back line and, injuries notwithstanding, that's a valuable resource to have around.

Especially considering Konate's future is still up in the air. Gomez is happy to stick around so there's no point selling him; it's not like we need to raise the funds.

would you be that excited if your circumstances don’t really change that much, i’m guessing his pay packet is larger though

What percentage of young long term replacements for world class player x work out buying young? I actually can't remember a single one for Liverpool.

It kind of proves your point but the only outstanding one I can think of is Ian Rush. And you could argue Toshack wasn't truly world class.
Seems like it's easier for the local kids to break through and enjoy a long career with the club than for any top talent bought from elsewhere in their teens.
