Applicable only to 1st team signing. Youth signings not taken into consideration.

Which position will our very 1st signing in this transfer window belong to? Feel free to specify the player name if you wish to. 😉

I picked midfielder too, for 2 main reasons:

- selling clubs will hold us to ransom for any bid to sign their strikers, knowing we are looking actively to reinforce the department
- Lucas' injury, Kuyt and Maxi's age/future, need for flank ammunition

A striker.......

Mario Gomez (or a similar clone, he bloody loves scoring goals) or a fox in the box!! We shouldnt have to buy one if Maxi and Bellers start every game based on their goals to game ratios! But we massively need one if they dont (because lets face it, kenny treats them like they're one player combined)..........or someone have a word in suarezs ear and tell him to lay off half of the shots he takes!!

But please can we not spend 20 million on Darren Bent! .......I think he'd be great for us in the short term, and he'd probably cement his place with england for the euros, but i dont think hes a long term solution.

Wasnt one of Swanseas CMs at the game the other night?

Which one??......none of them can hold a candle to Gerrard anyway! He's made Charlie Adam look like a championship player in the last 2 games he replaced him!

Slug, I was wondering who/which position's player each of us think will be our 1st signing of this window, not our hope/want 😛

Agree with you regarding Bent though. And what a difference it might've been if we bought Gomez instead of Carroll last Jan...

The only thing is Binny, is that Gomez in his current form is unplayable. Hes like Drogba when he realised all he wanted/needed to do was score goals. But Gomes 2 years ago couldnt buy a goal. If Gomez came here in his current form (which I dont think he'd even fathom while Bayern are still in the CL and he's still vying for the number 1 german spot for the euros) I think we and he would clean up. But in my opinion we need someone like Hernandez. Someone foreign who can come straight in and get goals but yet be fickle enough to know he's in for the long haul and beef up strength wise within the first season. I think he'd work brilliantly with suarez.............but his name escapes me unfortunately!

Sorry, missed that buddy, got caught up in all the Bellamy talk ;D I reckon we'll buy a centre mid and a striker! Names forsake me...but this time last year (with hindsight) Scott Parker and Darren Bent wouldve been a (short term) steal! Jelavic might be ok, but we need some who shits goals to gets us back into the champs league placings!

We need cover with Suarez out for 8 games. Carroll and Kuyt are our only recognised strikers and need supplementing with another option.

A forward Luuk de Jong...........or Drogba.

Do goals in Holland still count in dog years if he come ?? 🙁

Its a big gamble buying now, four teams playing for 2 places. 3rd and 4th.....

Either spunk 25M on a class striker or keep the powder dry IMO.

We're going to swap Carroll for Ba and a bag of magic beans.

Almost right, we are actually swapping Carroll and some magic beans for Ba.

I think our first signing will be Scott Sinclair. After that, probably a striker.

Welcome to the site, mate! Hope you continue making noises. 🙂

Interesting that you think Swansea will agree to sell.

Does the Window open on the 1st?

I always assume we know who we want, and will get him on the day the window opens or the next day at the latest.

Right now it feels like coming downstairs Christmas morning and there is no present under the Tree .....

Thanks for the welcome, Binny.

I'm not sure how much say Swansea will have if the player pushes for a move. It's not often players don't get their way these days.

If anyone's interested, interview with Fifa.com

You have shown your versatility in playing several different forward positions. Is there one in particular that you would prefer to play, as an out-and-out striker for example?
I prefer to play as a central striker, but sometimes it is better for the team that I play behind the central striker. I’m not a player that complains really fast, but my future is as a central striker, that’s my focus.

Who were your footballing heroes growing up? Did you attempt to model your style on the likes of Dennis Bergkamp and Ruud van Nistelrooy?
When I was young I never had a football hero. Later on when I started playing for the first team and wanted to develop myself, I looked at views from other strikers: the finishing, the movement, the clever things. That made me the striker I am now.
