Post Match Arsenal (H) 2-2 Sunday April 17th

Slot should probably have known better yeah. If his name got booed at the start then the signs were there.

I agree with what someone on the Anfield Wrap said. He didn't boo Trent, but he did deserve it. He's behaved badly imo. But booing him just makes us look pathetic.
I disagree. I don’t think it makes us look pathetic at all. It shows it does mean more and you are either with us or against us and Trent was one of us and he turned his back on it all, as a local. He’s lucky booing is all he got.

Each to their own - I thought it was classless. Ruined the party atmosphere. Hurt the team. Has put a cloud over the trophy lift and the parade.

That’s not on the fans imo and expecting thousands to act correctly because of one dickhead is foolish. By announcing his early he should have been giving up a place in the squad or as part of the celebrations.

Why shouldn’t he be involved in our title winning celebrations?

Trent’s contributed more to us winning the title this year than some other players in the squad who’ll be on that bus.

This, I dont blame the crowd I blame Slot.
Trent should never have been in the squad in the first place.
Maybe the plan was to let the fans boo their hearts out and get it out of the way for the trophy celebration, but imo they're in for another surprise.
I think he's going to get boo'ed at Brighton and against Palace too.

Not my place to tell supporters how to feel or what to do but I think the singing of songs for Bradley and Stevie G and utter apathy towards Trent would have been better signals of displeasure.

But, it happened. I hope the crowd will move on. Apathy should absolutely be the response going forward, or perhaps tepid appreciation based on previous service.

Because he will ruin it for others and he has lied to the fans and turned his back on his people.

He’s joining our biggest non domestic rival and as a local lad it’s unforgivable.

Announcing early means he forgoes the opportunity to celebrate for me.

What fucking difference does it make?

Of course when Klopp left Real will have contacted him. He'd be stupid not to start learning spanish then, since he clearly decided to leave. He didn't "string the club along." He just didn't sign a contract.

Would it make it better if he was stupid and would rather not do his best to integrate at a new club? Why would that make a difference?

Our biggest non domestic rival? Why? Do you think Madrid give us a seconds thought.

He should have signed a new contract, thats what he should've done. With a release clause.

Which he shouldn't have wanted to do if it meant colluding with them to fuck us over.

I find this whole thing silly. If he wanted to leave this club, he should have extended his contract then? I don't see any evidence that he lead us on. It seemed pretty clear to me he'd be off based on just him looking like he is searching for something different, even on the pitch.

No one cares when we do this to other clubs. It's just we are bigger than virtually any other club, but not this one.

Just be annoyed that he doesnt feel the love or loyalty as you wanted him to. People don't like his objectives. Theres no way he could have achieved them that anyone would have found acceptable.

On the other hand people are very hard nosed when it comes to loyalty going the other way with players.

Other players - including at least one predecessor of his who wanted to go to Madrid - have managed to be sufficiently clear about wanting to leave to allow the club to get at least some return on the work done to develop them in the first place. If they could do it, so could he have done.

Isn't the return on the work done to develop Trent the fact that we didn't have to pay for a world class right back and he helped us win things? We could have realized the return by selling him at any time. If we let him run his contract down when most people assumed he'd be off, then ethics aside, it's kind of just a mix of unfortunate timing with klopps unexpected exit, and a choice, on our side.

I don't really have that much room to feel aggrieved right now. We have a trophy lift coming. I just watched city win nothing this season. We have a rapid exciting right back/winger coming in. Whatever greedy hate I have in my heart I'll be putting toward the impossible goal of spurs winning something that matters.

I've moved on. We had months to do it. I'm not struggling to wrap my head around what has happened all of a sudden.

First para: IMO no, because we paid him generous wages in exchange for his services, but we had put a lot into him and his career beforehand.

As for moving on, I agree that's sensible and can assure you that this isn't keeping me (or, I suspect, his other critics) awake at night. However, that's a different matter from saying TAA doesn't deserve criticism if the subject comes up. On that we'll have to agree to disagree.

I didn't say he didn't deserve criticism.

At it's heart, the criticism is "I wish you didn't break up with me" but it's coming out in all sorts of trivia.

Hand on heart, I didn't want him to show love etc. I couldn't give a shiny shit about how he's living his dream or wants to captain the club or any of that shit. Don't give a toss - never made any difference to my opinion of him.

He can be as completely unsentimental about us as he likes. What I do expect of a fan - but almost any player, really - is some decency and, yes, at least some sign that he cares beyond just total mercenary cynicism.

Therefore it doesn't really cut it to just say he wanted to go there and that was the only way. It's asking too little of him. The reason we're all supposing that was the only way is cos Real tapped him up a couple of years ago and said he could move there so long as he sat out his deal and cost his club £70m+. Well soz but at that point I'd expect some scruples to kick in and be like hmmm maybe this shouldn't be my dream destination after all if they're unwilling to pay a fair price they can totally afford.

Doesn't seem like much to ask. So yeah I demand more from the fans than booing like idiots and I ask more from our players than absolute calculating cynicism.
