TBF I've listened to a 'serious' Collymore debate about depression on TalkSport a few months ago & the lad is seriously intelligent about a lot of things, & speaks very well (albeit in an annoying fucking accent) & candidly about his depression & how it effects him. His doctor was also on & described some of his symptoms too.

Whilst I think there's some of the things you can attribute him doing to simply him being a cock, it's only fair to consider that his depression his contributed to much of his behaviour.

Well yes, and that is partly what I was getting at, although I hold my hands up and admit that I didn't put it very sensitively, and I am sorry for that.

The point was that if someone is intelligent, articulate but has particular health issues then there is little a football club can do to help matters. If someone just likes going out drinking and partying then the treatment by the club can be crucial.

I reckon Carroll will go the same way as Fowler, but not achieve half as much for us.

Hope to be proved wrong.

He's going to be a beast for us this season.

I also think some posters are making a little bit too much out of the fact that he's been spotted out having a few beers.

I'm not concerned that he has a few beers, especially in the summer. What does concern me is that he was either injured or not match fit last season, hasn't found his feet at the club yet and the media will be waiting to criticise him if he starts badly next season.

The fact that he is photographed all over the place this summer suggests to me what line they are already preparing to take and once it starts it makes it more difficult for the guy to turn it around, even if it is not down to that.

If he starts well next year then great, it will be a massive 'up yours' to anyone waiting to write him off, but as I say, if he starts badly he has given more ammunition. Would a quiet low profile summer not have been too much to ask from him?

With the amount we paid for him Richey, i think he was going to come in for plenty of stick anyway if he's not banging in the goals tbh.

Indeed, so why pile more pressure on himself?

The pressure you talk about mate was already there once he signed for us for £35mill, i don't think him being pictured out having a few beers (something that a shed load of players will all be doing right now) has really increased that.

If he'd locked himself in his house all summer and then not produced the goods on the field, do you think the press would be any less on his back?

Of course not,Raf...all that matters is how he does on the pitch.

But if he doesnt then all these other issues are just added pressure.

In some ways yes. That would mean that we get more of the blame. If its made out that its because he has been out drinking too much that would still be painted as our fault to a degree but the media would also have a go at him a lot more.

Andy Carroll wants to play for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics.

The £35million Liverpool star has spent the weekend at the Glastonbury festival with former Newcastle team-mates Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan. A close friend of Carroll has revealed how excited he is by prospect of playing for Team GB.

He said: “He is really up for it.

“Andy’s grandparents come from north of the border and Scotland tried for a long time to get him to play for them.

“But Andy always wanted to play for England and has got this wish.

“Playing for Great Britain would go some way to pleasing the Scottish side of his family and Andy is making no secret of this. ”

Carroll teamed up with Barton and Nolan at Glastonbury for the weekend. The trio celebrated Nolan’s 29th birthday and his £4million transfer to West Ham.

He's got a strange taste regarding clothes, hasn't he?
[/quote]

he's in disguise

My mate was sitting with Carroll & barton in Glastonbury the other night. They were amazed he had no idea who they were till they told him. Then delighted when he told them he didn't give a fuck (this lad has real cash money & hates footy).

He also attempted, & failed, to frape Barton.

He's been on about Morrissey a few times recently. Nothing Morrissey likes more than a sycophantic fan

Bet he was. Can't imagine it would be much of a conversation between those two to be honest!

I love Carroll and I desperatly want him to succeed. Signing Downing and Adam will create do much for him.
