Darwin - the evolution of a transfer

Hope it works out for the guy. The effort and commitment were always there, though in the end they couldn't make up for what he lacked.

I'm quietly relieved he's going to Saudi. Had he stayed in the UK or Europe I could see him popping up to score against us one day.
After he'd been red carded for protesting too hard over an offside decision while on a prior booking.

... but clowning on him aside, I hope a deal goes through. He needs the change in scenery and so do we.

are we a bit premature here?

No going back for me:

So the Nunez experiment has cost us some hairloss and ~£15-20m quid. Could be worse. Whilst be has to go down as a failed signing, he has been enough to contribute to a title winning team. The sale may save some blushes but as it stands he's nowhere close to Naby Keita levels of useless shite.

Nunez has provided plenty of magic moments along the way. Newcastle comeback the obvious one, but that heel flick goal against Madrid will always have a place in my heart. I'm a little sad it hasn't worked out for him, but when two top level mangers decide he's no better than a bench option then that's a judgement I'm not going to argue with. The fans couldn't have done anymore for him.
if you take amortisation into account its a profit of £23m according to AI

Brentford was key too.. shut the door firmly on Arsenal.

I kinda want Darwin to stay. But I would love to see the Newcastle meltdown if selling Nunez to Saudi is what funds us buying Isak.

Agreed. It should be acknowledged we've won 63% of games he's played and he scored 30 goals in the 49 games he started, 40 goals (not counting preseason) in 143 games overall.

That said his broader game has not given coaches faith in his ability to play as their tactics dictate.

For his own sake it's better he plays for someone who thinks he can be a key player.

Dominic Calvert Lewin would have scored thirty goals a season in this side

He has to go.

He has all the skills, physicality, and at times intelligence, but his emotional side is just not there. I just don't vibe with highly strung emotional people and I don't think Slot does either.

He is going. I really don't understand the level venom levelled against him. I agree he has the football IQ of a lemon but he always tried hard (unlike that cunt, Trent) and scored goals. Yes, he missed way more (than he converted-) and there was an American side to him, as he did not comprehend the offside rule. In hindsight he was a mistake but he is going, and I wish him all the best

It's not his emotional behaviour, it's that he's fucking bollocks. He's fucking shite. He's thick as mince. And I know you don't have to be a bright spark to be a great footballer but this cunt couldn't find his own dick on Google maps
To be fair neither could I! 😩😲

That's also a bit confusing though. He's a cunt with a dick?

That seems strange. My count based on data in transfermarkt looks like this:

22/23: -- 11 goals in 26 starts (all comps)
- 7 pl, 19 starts
- 3 cl, 5 starts
- 1 fa, 1 start
- 0 lc, 1 start

23/24: -- 14 goals in 33 starts (all comps)
- 8 pl, 22 starts
- 5 eu, 6 starts
- 1 fa, 3 starts
- 0 lc, 2 starts

24/25: -- 5 goal in 17 starts (all comps)
- 3 pl, 8 starts
- 1 cl, 5 starts
- 0 fa, 1 start
- 1 lc, 3 starts

TOTAL: 30 goals in 76 starts (all comps), viz: 18 goals in 49 starts in the league, 12 goals in 27 starts in cups

The fans couldn't have done anymore for him and the club are moving beyond the point of needing or tolerating a plucky cult hero, especially one so expensive.

We'll never really know the true cost. We might have won the league in Klopps last season if we had a good striker. Last season we could've got through at Anfield against PSG if we had a good striker & then who knows? Villa, Arsenal & Inter to win number 7. We'll never know but I reckon we would've done it.
