For those saying that Kenny deserves another year

Ask yourself, if our managers name was anything other than Kenny Dalglish would you be in favor of him leading our club next year? The answer is unequivocally no, and if it's not you are lying to yourself.

I love Kenny just as much as the next guy but I think many need to take off the red tinted glasses and look at things realistically. It hasn't worked and we need a fresh start with fresh ideas.

I don't like sacking managers. At all. Hell, Roy deserved more time to turn it round too. Another year would be fair regardless who it is but I'm very close to wanting him gone this minute.

I don't either, just convince Kenny to bow out after the season and if he fights then a decision needs to be made.

I am his biggest critic on here (for some!) but KD has won us a trophy and at the start of the season we playing so great stuff, well up to xmas anyway

My main concern is the clubs current transfer policy, can the management team be trusted with 30/40 million not to buy more average british players.

With right signings we could be right up there.... though our league form is shockingly bad and we could slide further next season after having a our usual nightmare Novermber!

In 2 minds.....

It depends who we could line up as manager as sacking managers every season isn't the way to go. I'm still pretty much 50/50 over Kenny but decisions like constantly playing 1 up front at home is starting to make me doubt he's flexible enough to change.

I think Ryan is bigger.

There are only 3-4 teams that have scored fewer goals than us, and we've lost 6 of the last 8. Only Wolves have picked up fewer points in 2012.

Only an FA cup win can give him another season imho.
We can talk about new owners, new players and giving Kenny time. But 32 games into the season and we look more clueless than we did at the start of the season. We're so far off the rest that I dont think Kenny can take us the steps forward.

I wouldn't say he deserves another year. I'd say he deserves another transfer window and a good start to next season.

Hans I am not going to go back to old matchday thread to find out what you said in them but we were far from clueless at the start of the season.
We played some excellent football and we were not clinical enough on front of goal to garner the points that our performances seem to have merited.
For whatever reason, our form and self belief have been on a decreasing cycle since November/December.
The inability to arrest such a slump and recreate the early season form is what concerns me most.

At the beginning of the season when we were creating chances for fun but missing them, someone said (ken maybe?), soon we won't be creating chances and we'll look poor.

Was that our purple patch and now our true form?

Highly unlikely. It's much easier to underperform than it is to do the opposite.

And, for all the poverty of the results we're getting at the moment, that forecast of creating fewer chances hasn't come true yet BTW.

I think the club is in turmoil from top to bottom. I'm unconvinced changing the manager would rectify this, but it'd certainly be the cheapest option

Mindless, predicatble & repetitive drivvel. I;ve said it before, if you were around in 1970 you would have called for Shankly's head. If you and your microwave buddies had been around then we woud be have been Aston Villa for the last 40 years

We buy players and don't play to their strengths

There seems to be no tactics

The manager is freezing players out

The owners are apparently asking for Dalglish to explain why we've been so shit

I don't care who agrees with me and who doesn't, all I reckon is something huge isn't right.

Also, had we been in the second division now under Dalglish, I'd give him years to resolve it, like shanks... But we're not. We've spent 100 million. So stop crying it in about this microwave bollocks. We've fallen down the table over the last few years and we seem to keep on falling.

But, again, I've said he should have another year FUCKING LOADS OF TIMES

You forget (or are too young) - in 1970 it wasnt about takign a second division team forwards - that had been done & dusted by then - it was about a two time title winning team failing to win anything for 5 years .... great managers have bad times, noone is perfect .But kenny is way closer to perfect that you or any other rmicrowave internet sky clone could even hope to be and he WILL get it right. Dont you remember the Kop singing "fergie must stay" in 1989 (I do) ... and look where that led.

Excuse me but everything you just listed kinda points towards Kenny not getting another year and your tone also hints that you don't really want him to get another year.
Now let me get this straight you want him to get another year because we'd potentially be having 4 different managers in 4 years? It seems like a weak argument...

Personally? I really don't think Kenny deserves another year even if we win the FA cup. Partly because of the reasons you already listed.
I'm sorry but I don't feel confident that he can get us back into the top 4.

The top two applies to the first team only. Yes, we are not playing well, yes results are very poor at the moment. But do you know why players are being frozen out? Do you know if the training is going well or not transmitting on to the pitch?

Owners asking for Dalglish to explain the situation. He has to do that anyway! If we're winning every game, the owners will ask how to sustain it and how to continue it for the nest season or the next cup tournament. It's nothing new, and it happens at EVERY club, EVERY season.

We have no or very small debt, new sponsors (that are paying top dollar), we have a successful youth set up, we have a whole new first team and like it or not it's a re-building exercise.

Accept it, be patient, have faith.

Yep, sack a manager that, if we win the FA cup, won 2 trophies after having won none in 6 years.

I'm happy to keep a manager when they've done something in their current tenure. Kenny won the cup so he's sorted for a bit. Shanks got us back to the top. Both would earn time (although shanks would have earned an eternity). Yes, kenny did it in the 80s, but times have changed. The game (at least the backroom stuff) has changed. The personality of footballers has changed.

During kennys last time with us he was managing friends and contemporaries. Now, he's managing a different generation. The same style of management may not work. Even since the mid nineties the personality of footballers has changed.

The best attack in the 80s (Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge, Houghton, McMahon, Spackman 😉) were not Kenny's friends and contemporaries .. he recruited & moulded them into a potent attacking force

Yes, definitely. I wish Ryan could pop in to describe why, because I'll make a mess of it.
I just don't see us making any progress.
I can go on and on, but you've probably read it before.

They watched him when they were young. Nowadays not many players have seen kenny play. They won't respect him because all he is is a name.

This argument is going to go in circles because no one can convince me otherwise. Only performances can. Obviously you're very patient with our performances and I respect that. However just because I cannot see where kenny is taking us doesn't mean I deserve to be patronised with this microwave gibberish. He's a legend and always will be, and I hope he can turn it round. I'm not waiting to pounce for when/if he gets sacked so I can lord it up. I'd love to be wrong on this.

This team hasn't got a fucking clue what it is doing. They set up for the first corner against them today and before it was taken all started running off in different directions. It was like watching a school team. Nothing came of it but it left me wondering if the management have already given up, like the players seem to have. It was an insult to anyone in the ground. I don't say sack him but I would understand if they did.

OK - i'm not dissing you, just the general impatient attitude, I hope I am right to give him my trust and I know you hope that too, even if you dont believe it. We're on the same side
