Massive game.

A chance to move 5 points ahead of city and put pressure on them early.

With a weeks rest we should have everyone ready to go.

Also a good chance to show Pepe what he’s missing first hand.

I’d like to Gomez for Matip and Henderson for Milner

Adrian
TAA
Robbo
Gomez
VVD
Henderson
Ox
Fabhino
Salah
Mane
Firmino

Watched both teams games today, they looked better overall, but we looked far better when we were actually on it for short periods.
Their defence is still ropey as fuck. Their front line only needs a tiny sniff of goal to get one, so we need to keep them away from Adrian.
Not sure how close to fitness Keita is, but I'd play a midfield of him, Henderson and Wijnaldum, and then the rest of the team from today.

Yea they look stronger than last year. Ceballos looked very good, Pepe had a few tricks but meh and they should have Tierney available next week. I don't like that they're finding some confidence and starting to press well.

Glad it's at home, we'll need to not be utter wank in the first half for this one.

I'm nervous.
If we give the chances we gave to Norwich & Soton, Arsenal will punish us.
Yes, they're shaky defensively but with PEA, Lacazette and potentially Pepe's debut, that is speed and skill on the break ... and against our 'struggling' high line ...
Going to be a tough game.
They've lost 9-1 overall the last two times at Anfield ... they know a result here 'announces' them as a 'new' Arsenal.

I dunno one side of the debate is exactly this but then we always seems to be allowed to play our best football against them.

Adrian Trent Matip Van Dijk Robertson Fabinho Henderson Ox Salah Mane Firmino

Like always in this fixture, there will be goals. Lots of them.

4-2 Pool

I wouldn’t play ox. He needs a few runs against lesser teams to get back up to speed. Can’t risk him against Arsenal.

I don’t think Ox is right for this one either.

Unpopular as it might be - I can see the Fabinho, Gini, Henderson midfield - happy enough if Henderson is in the most forward slot - with the other 2 sitting behind.

Gomez, for his pace, maybe at CB.

Their defence does look suspect - unfortunately so does ours.

I’m pro Ox back for this one

Adrian

TAA
VVD
Gomez
Robbo

Fabinho
Gini/Hendo
Ox

Mane
Mo
Firmino

Random thought:
If Klopp leaves Liverpool in the near future, I don't want to see Gerrard taking over.
Former Liverpool midfielder and captain, coming back from a successful stint as manager of Rangers...
Nope.

Their front two are lethal.

I'm fine with playing a conservative midfield if it means Adrian and the CB's get protected.

------------------Adrian-----------------
-Trent-----Matip-------VVD------Robertson
------------------Fabinho--------------------
--------Henderson-----Wijnaldum-----
----Salah--------Bobby---------Mane------

With their attack now improved, it would be careless playing the open game we have against them in the past. We need to control this one as much as possible and take our chances.

This time we have a good week of preparation. We have had success going at them before.. Should put them under pressure from the start.

Ceballos looked very good, but kind of remind me of that guy watford have. This gonna be a tricky fixture for us, eapecially with the way we are playing, its all very dodgy at the moment.

Scared because we’ll destroy them. We will play deeper than the last few games and pick them off.

I wonder if we'll see Gomez at RB in this one. We seem to get suckered into this when playing a dangerous team and overlook the fact it kills the balance of our attack. Fabinho a must and I wouldn't be against seeing a fired up Hendo joining him. After one ok game Arsenal are creaming themselves over Ceballos - let's ruin him. Firmino loves playing Arsenal, hope he continues that run. This could be a 3-2/4-3 thriller (to either team).

It's one of those weird games, everyone's shit scared of their undoubted quality, but if we press them high and attack fast, we strangle Ceballos and their midfield, and their awful defence gets sliced apart by Firmino, Mane and Salah, and Auba and Laca have their chances massively restricted, as they'll drop deep to help out their overloaded midfield.

On the flip side, Ceballos is quick and smart, and can release a one two through ball, and Auba, Laca and Pepe could easily break our line, with only VVD and Gomez if he plays really able to track them.

The choice between brave and conservative in these games is something I've never been able to figure out, Klopp seems to err on the adventurous side when at home, so I expect to see a barn storming performance, hopefully one where we completely shut out Arsenal, but it's a risky game.

I think we'll be lucky that Pepe isn't yet deemed match fit and will start on the bench with Willock in the middle due to Ozil also not yet being fit. They always fold to our intensity in the middle, but they do have undeniable quality up top. Should be a belter.
