First off. This was a very professional performance. I was dismayed reading the match thread at HT at how people perceived the team and football we had played. We looked improved in every area of the pitch. Lovren failed to keep that up in the 2nd half but he has shown enough that I have confidence he will improve and be a very stable CB for us. Ming was much better, midfield looked far more stable and we put together coherent attacks against a team bursting with what we were lacking, confidence.
We could and should have won this 2-0/3-0/4-0 but for an horrendous penalty call and being profligate in front of goal (inc. Sterling with a near identical FU of his attempt vs. Basel).

Lallana continues to show just exactly why many of us were delighted at his signing and shoved yet another finger up Modo's ass.
Gerrard gave a superb performance all over the pitch .. but gave a massive hint that he could and should be used as AM / #10.

Phew, thank fuck for that. Some good, some bad and some ugly but we desperately needed them 3 points.

Positive shit:

- Moreno was again very good. Solid in defence, and full of running and endeavour down the left. Looking more and more like a great acquisition.

- Henderson...what drive and what passion. Really grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck second half. Lovely touch to set Lallana up for his goal, and scored with a great finish himself. He's massive for us.

- Lallana put on a bit of a masterclass at times today...getting his fitness back and now we're seeing his class on the ball. Such a gifted footballer with his close control and touch. Great goal. Big plus today.

Negative shit:

- Slow and one dimensional with Lambert up top...he tried his best and all but I felt sorry for him. Just not coming off for him ATM. Badly needs a goal.

- Coutinho was again infuriating...yes there was a noticeable lack of movement ahead of him at times but he was once again so wasteful and casual on the ball. Really needs a kick up the arse.

- Lovren looks like a headless chicken at the back...diving in all over the place...conceding needless free-kicks and being nowhere near his man. A real worry.

That aside, another laboursome performance in many ways but at least we created a bit more. Coutinho will improve when Sturridge is back. He is no good when there are no runners ahead of him. Sterling too tho obviously he has the capability to go alone too.
