Seen a few reports today regarding the possible return of Rafa. Apologies if there are threads on this already but I couldn't see any.

Anyway I would be up for it personally. Rafa's beef was with the previous owner and not the current lot. He clearly loves the City and the club so I say... Why not?

It's also fairly clear that KD is a goner... Or is that just me?

I tend to agree that Dalglish is already aware he's off in the summer. But that's just a hunch.

I doubt they'd go with Rafa somehow.

I have to say I think the King is gone. He might even step down himself rather than being pushed. I could think of no one better than Rafa to take over. Who else is there? Capello?.......

I suspect we'll have a new manager for next season but I would be surprised if it is Rafa. There is only a handful of coaches I'd rather see than Rafa but I suspect the owners will be wary of reappointing another former manager with shitloads of baggage. Rafa as DoF would be fascinating though.

He loves the city and the club. If only Kenny could have affected such a love. Which reports - rather than posts in forums - are these?

I'm not sure what you meant by that but if it's sarcasm then I have to say there was no disrespect towards KD intended.

No, I'm sure not. I just don't see why that would work for him when it hasn't for Kenny. Apart from that, you've got a manager even more likely to make odd selections, throw away cup competitions by indulging shit reserve keepers and unfamiliar outfield combinations, treat Carroll like an unwanted problem, start sniping against the owners and maybe get to a final only to make the most baffling team selection imaginable. Nay.

Thanks. The Guardian one is awful journalism. 'the owners will demand assurances from the manager and his backroom staff when the campaign ends' - what the feck are the 'assurances'??

Really? I have to say in the modern game Rafa has a better record than The King. I love him - Don't get me wrong. Also that's a pretty dispassionate view of Rafa's reign. The sniping at the owners (as you put it) was directed towards what any red would universally agree were "the worst owners in the history of Liverpool FC"

He sniped against Valencia, he sniped against Milan. He snipes. That's what he does. I don't know what the 'modern' game is. Post 2000? To me his teams play like Houllier teams with a defibrillator. Picking Kewell in 2005 and dropping Crouch in 2007 would have got an older manager crucified. I recall the unprecedented hatred for his team on here in his last season. I'm sure that will come back. Once actual games are phased out in favour of brain tremors fed into the internet I'm sure he'll be in his element. Not for me, not again.

Crikey, this is a bad ass forum.

We're in desperate need of a Rafalution, but I'm not sure if we should go back.
Still, yay.

Why is it that he 'would' comeback?
Because his beef (HIS BEEF!!!) was with the previous owners!!?
What about the fact he was sacked because he was shit and took the club backwards from being European champions to out of Europe and no trophies in 5 years?

All this 'Im sure hed come back' shit is unbelievable. He did a crap job, spent a fucking fortune and won little.
Rafa's legacy is already at the club and hopefully will bare fruit in the coming years. Rafa the manager sitting on sky complaining about The owners and his budget and the referees and Fergie and our luck i need like a fucking hole in the head.
Fuck that shit.

I love Rafa but I'm not sure Capello again I like him and wanted him to be our boss years ago but again not sure now. I guess I'm just abit deflated still.

Nay.

Regarding Kenny, I think noone knows and least of all the media. The club does everything behind closed doors and this will be done in similar fashion.

Considering he was the one who made us European champions, plus took us to another European final 2 years later, I wouldn't mind him taking us to those heights again.
What's the alternative? We've been seventh, and probably 8th this season, since he's been gone.
Yes please Rafa.

No, no, no Oncy. He was 'forced' into buying poor players for £20m, had to deal with the horrendous problem of only having £80m to spend in two seasons after selling players he pissed off and completely ignored once he'd decided they were unwanted.

He wasn't stubborn to the point of us losing a European Cup Final because he had to play Dirk Kuyt and couldn't put Peter Crouch on or Craig Bellamy because he was already dead set on them leaving.

We can get close to domestic success just once in 6 years, 5 years more than kenny will have, who many of the Rafa fans are claiming to be a disaster after one season at it.

Bring him back tomorrow, he can find his feet straight away after some time out the game, and get over the fact that he will now have to compete not only with the standard big three, but City, Spurs and Newcastle. We'll have Champions League Football back in no time and we'll be brilliant again in games that you have 180 minutes to win. Our players will be super fresh for the run in after being rested, rotated and wrapped in cotton wool between August and December and we can look forward to five years of ranting, sniping and excuses while we continue to flatter to deceive, play lineups that even confuse the players and we can constantly look like headless chickens when defending setpieces again.

I can't wait to see how Andy Carroll does on the right wing.

I honestly cant believe that this thread exists when Kenny Dalglish is our manager and is one year into the job of putting right the wrongs Rafa and Roy did.
Rafa can fuck off.
