Knockout proper starts today.

The pre tournament joint favourites start us off against an Argentina here by the skin of their teeth.

For me France havnt quite gelled together and with those tools should, SHOULD look a much more dominant side.

Whereas Argentina have been a mess.

I think France will win in a boring game
1-0

I'm fairly certain they'll make it 1-1 and then Argentina will go through on penalties. Their players think God is actually on their side, which means, unlike France, they won't succumb to pressure and sky their pens over the bar.

France have been disappointing so far. Never anywhere near their potential.
Argentina have been a mess, but having miraculously gone through the group atages, they may surprise people in the knockout stages. They still have Messi, Agüero and some other top players playing for them.

I think France are yet to click. It always seems to be a yard away from being a decent pass/run/shot.

Argentina have been shite and need another tactic other than give the ball to the best ever and hope for the best.

I think France will click today and Argentina might get a bit embarrassed

I'm hoping it's not a boring affair at all.

Two top teams, in name at least, one with a tonne of bright young things but little experience in this sort of scenario. The other full of "been there, done thats" approaching the end who may well get really arsey if the young boys start to embarrass them.

That Argie team is nothing apart from a couple of top attackers. Certainly not a team.
If the French get some confidence early on this can get ugly.

That might be all the Argies need to be though, haven't seen the French look that good at the back so far and they haven't even faced any real threat. I'd love an ugly match.

France is, on paper, the most balanced side left in this competition. Why they haven't clicked I don't know.

Maybe it's Deschamp or the lack of a clear strategy. That said they haven't been bad, just a little underwhelming. Maybe they'll peak soon

You’ll get an ugly match this evening.

Yes, they have the mental toughness that the French can only dream about.
There is not much to this Argie team though, quality wise. No decent keeper, defense, a mediocre midfield which even has Mascher in it. But then there is the mentality and the attack...

The French full backs are also average. But the rest is solid.

Picked France to win the tournament before it started bit theyve been massively underwhelming so far. Whether thats because they have just done enough against teams that set up to frustrate them or whether its because they just arent as good as they look on paper I dont know. I still think they will have too much of the ball and be too well orgsnised not to score a couple against this poor Argentina side. The only real variable in this is Messi, hes possibly the only Argentine player who would get into the France first XI, you can never really write off a side that has a player capable of winning games on their own.

aguero, dybala?

This is the first time I’ve seen the intro on the BBC. What a clusterfuck of an opening.
