Post Match Arsenal (H) 2-2 Sunday April 17th

Put mabaya on the bench. Put Esdaille on the bench. Genuinely cannot understand giving Trent any more minutes. It's a distraction.
Yeah, there's no upside. It's not going to heal the relationship between Trent and us, we don't need to win games, we need to give Conor more time, we don't want to distract the other players. It's pointless. I can understand Slot bringing him on yesterday because apparently Bradley was flagging, and he'd been booked, but he won't have realised the strength of feeling against Trent. Now he does, there's no reason to fight against that.

Must have been under pressure from his new employers? They want him to play in that competition in June and negotiations needed to start to end his contract with us earlier so he can officially play in white.

Everything is orchestrated.

How would this help that? Real didn't need the fans to know the situation to be able to negotiate with LFC, who've obviously known for ages.

The timing of the video from Trent (to me) reads as someone who wanted to get his swansong and flowers from the fans before he left. He didn't have to do it then, as the crowd are less likely to be on his back not knowing if he's going or not, so it screams "make these last few weeks about saying goodbye to me", so he can soak up the love. He probably wanted a wave off like bobby, Millie and ox got.

I would say that was misjudged.

The way we handled the Klopp exit and Slot coming in was perfect. Give the time for celebrations and let things settle was right.

Regarding Trent, we should’ve held back any story until the 31st.

The crowd have been on his back throughout 2025 anyway. Right from that Man U game. Letting him give a half hearted message (like his performances) just gave more ammo to pelt him with.

In general, it was a poor performance by LFC team, and a game which the players should have won after 2-0!, but bad defensive mistake, and lack of midfield support resulted to give away to bad goals. I don't understand why people bring down Diaz, he played so well and scored, what about LFC king Salah, he never overcomes their left back not even once, he was so poor and should have replaced at half-time.
Conor Bradley is young fine defender, he needs more time to settle! Yes, the LFC still needs a good back up in that position.

YNWA eh. This is such a drab viewpoint, its not their fault? Just because you don't agree with a players actions after 20 years of service, it doesn't give you a free pass to act like a cunt. Thats why this World is such a fucking mess.
You can draw that comparison in all walks of life. We had a loyal high performing employee for 10 years who lied to his colleagues and then left to join our biggest rival. Do you think he got a great send off for the 10 years or a fuck you, don’t let the door hit you on the way out,

Crouch’s comments to Rio on it being an us vs the world for scousers was spot on. As Klopp says it’s not important what people think when you walk in. It’s far more important what they think on your way out. Like it or not a lot of fans are disgusted (I’m definitely one) I can understand why he did what he’s done but I’m not about to give him a free pass because he’s been here and won everything before turning his back on his teammates, his manager, the staff, the club, the fans and city. For Fucking Real Madrid no less. He can get fucked and of course he was always going to get booed. You’re entitled to disagree strongly with that view but being self righteous about it is odd imo.

Trent could have made his choice since January and told the club/Slot in March. I think most fans can see how he has orchestrated this for the last few years and they're probably also a bit pissed that he's such a coward when it comes to owning his decision.

But we won the title, he contributed, got booed by parts of the crowd and now we can move on without him.

He’s tried to play us since Klopp left. He had it all lined up to say “I’m leaving to win more trophies”. Guess what bell end. We are winning trophies. What’s your excuse now?

Get a fucking grip of yourself you silly twat.

Player gets some boos which everyone associated with the club knew was coming & that he's brought upon himself by the way, "No wonder this world is fucked up", are you really this fucking soft?

Final game is going to be fun, what with Trent picking up his little framed memory board from John Henry after we lift the trophy.

I wonder if they’ll stay tuned in for the farewell celebrations.

We’ll be in full kit on the bus too.

Does it really? Did you think that it would impact a player to turn down, say an extra 40k per week?

No idea, but hopefully it will see us more ruthless and sell players 1 year before the contract runs out.
The thought of being in Trents current situation cant be very enticing.

It's funny, a month ago I was struggling to get anyone on here to agree with me that maybe we should have expected a bit better from one of our own than engineering a free transfer to Real Madrid, and now the consensus seems to be he's a rat bellend who deserves to get booed to high heaven.

Silly twat? If you can't see the parallels then that's on you. No surprise which fuckheads think this is kosher. Thankfully the local press and just about everyone with half a braincell thinks it was cuntish behaviour that undermines what we're about. Not that you'd get that you thick cunt.

Ok, you can shut the fuck up about it now.

Comparing a player being booed after publicly stating he wants to fuck off with the world being fucked is the single dumbest shit you can read anywhere.

The whole team seemed to have been affected by the boo's. It killed the mood.

Yeah...I just don't get the decision from Slot.

Rest Bradley - okay fine, that's sensible. But bringing on Trent in a game we don't need to win, when it was an opportunity to give Quansah more of a go in a no-pressure scenario, or even have one of the kids on the bench?

It just makes no sense. It was obvious that there might be a negative reaction which just sets up a sideshow and distracts from the game. Odd decision from Slot.

As for the booing itself, it kinda lacks class IMO. I'd much rather see the Conor Bradley or Ste Gerrard chants send the same message, but through positive support for the team, rather than booing our own (for now) player.

I dunno, just gives off incel "Fuck off then you fat ugly bitch, I didn't even wanna fuck you anyway!" vibes to me 🤷

Yep, no reason those discussion can't go on behind closed doors. I suspect they announced it to quash the rumours that had started that he might be staying after all. That may have been due to pressure from Real for him to commit or he may have just thought it was better not to allow fans to get their hopes up.
I still think it would be funny if Alonso decided he didn't want him. I'm sure I read somewhere that Madrid would have had to make an announcement if they'd signed a pre-contract with him, which they haven't done. He may, technically, still be in limbo.
I was surprised how much booing there was yesterday. I expected some, but more pantomime style than what we saw, but it's cool, the fans are entitled to show their feelings and it was naive to expect there wouldn't be some backlash.
For the future, Bradley needs to learn to pace himself more, and also to contain some of his efforts at moments during the game - he's inclined to push his body to the limits at times (lunging, stretching) leading to risk of injury and booking. That's where he needs to develop for me, the rest of his game is more than good enough for him to be a long-term success in that role.

Trent was fucking shite. Shite overhit crosses, shite free kicks and then being a typical lazy cunt.

He was embarrassing for that 2nd goal, didn't move a fucking inch. Merino was his man too seeing as he was right in fucking front of him, either play the offside line like someone who knows how to defend or go with him and attempt to make a challenge, of course he does fucking neither because his head's already in Madrid.

Send him on his way and take the free £1m.

I think Slot probably just underestimated how bad it'd be. I did too, I thought we were better than that. I've got genuine criticisms of him but it's classless to let those contaminate what should be a period of celebration.

Like, wtf is going to happen during the actual celebrations and parade now? Are we at the point where he needs to stay away?

I've learned we shouldn't boo, we would call each other silly twats and thick cunts.

In all seriousness though, this is a bit of a weird situation and stupidly managed timing, but booing and public ridicule has existed throughout all time, I find it hard to see how it's part of a cultural disintegration, even though I totally think that's happening.

What's more telling for me, and more specific to this time, is how we are so dominated by conflict and newness, that what would have been buried in the third paragraph of a match report that nobody read, because the game doesn't matter at all, is now a welcome story for a club that draws views.

It be boring to just think about how we've won wouldn't it? Aren't you bored of just winning a title? God, I'm so fed up with it.

I mean to be honest, I have less of an issue with the misjudging of reaction, and more with the waste of an opportunity.

We know what Trent can/can't do, and we also know that he's leaving. Sending him on in what is essentially a meaningless game gives us nothing.

We could have tried out a youngster in a competitive game, or given Quansah more time at RB to get a better idea of his capabilities against rival opposition - all at zero risk.

How often do we get a chance like that? Next to never...more than anything, it was a waste to put Trent on. That probably pisses me off more than anything else. Trent shouldn't have even been on the bench

I think people are being overly harsh on Slot. I think he underestimated the crowd reaction and how it would change the mood of the whole game. I also think he was worried about Bradders getting a 2nd yellow, as he can be rash and more likely to mistime a tackle when tiring. He said that he thought bring on Trent was the best way to win the game and despite having already won the league, we should still be doing all we can to win every game we play in.

Again, I don't think he realized that there would not only be some boos, but that the whole energy of the game would change., I was surprised by that too.

It was naïve to not expect booing. That was apparent from when he was announced as part of the team selection. He was booed then.

For me the booing overshadowed the second half shitshow and tbh upset me... When he announced on Monday ( which coincidentally was my bday) he was leaving I was sad to hear it and raised the thought in my head I wonder who we can paint over his mural with? It is a rejection of major proportions and he needn't have done it during the "season" at all... a twats move... in every respect

Good player though he was he's nothing to me now.

For that reason alone he shouldn't have played yesdy IMO.

The booing however.... that to me was something so very "un" Liverpool. In all my time when I used to go and stand on the kop it was something I never saw, I'd never ever seen a LFC player booed with a red shirt on... Thank fuck I never saw El Hadj Diouf... I dunno... "This means more" stuff, for EVERYONE else it means PR bullshit but for me?

slogannery gimmickery promotional BS etc aside... It actually does mean more to me... I fucking love that club and the city and I literally learned on the Kop the shit you should say and do in relation to the support of the team. It was taught... LITERALLY taught...

It means more, from Shankly on... It is a peoples club always fucking has been...

That's why booing... I dunno... YNWA?? Yeah... you can do one now Trent eh...

Please don't get me wrong he fucking deserves the anger and the upset but no-one is bigger than the club and those "supporting rules" that I absorbed years back... rightly or wrongly... OK Trent you wanna go to a bunch of cunts team... Ta-ra...

You chose not to be a legend... fair enough... You threw yourself on the "indifference" pile... In booing however WE just gave away something and I'm sure others will call it like Paul Joyce did in the times today, we threw away a bit of our "mystique", we are a club which doesn't fucking boo, we are the best supporters in the country, we sing a fucking song which says however shit stuff is we are with ya... and we fucking mean it...

Or at least we did till yesdy.

Not everyone.... true... and all of us can defo be disappointed/angry... but booing him?

I'd have greeted him with silence....

or maybe that Kop spirit has gone for good or maybe I just read that spirit all wrong all them years back. Now everyone can point to us and say this means more? REALLY? .... we are full of shit, and they'd be right.

I've really rated Slot he's done some good stuff for us this season... 2 bad errors:

1. Picking Nunez to take a fucking Peno in the semi
2. Playing Trent yesterday... no fucking need... at all... he's gone already... he shudda be told to announce it AFTER the parade as well... the twat...
