Maybe....1 more Italian?

89 % passing completion.
Over 60% in both duels and aerial duels won.
Monster.

What I like about the second clip is that there are very few last ditch tackles.
While they may look good in "best bits" videos they are not really the sign of a top defender.
The shepherding approach to defending is very Virgil like and if that clip is a true representation of how the lad defends then he looks very promising indeed.

It's 30m and loan out to a PL club or equivalent for 2 years and see where we're at.

Or he's good enough and he'll get consistent minutes and might oust ibou, or ibou goes for free next year and vvd the year after.

It's not a bad idea to get this kid in now. Worst case scenario we break even
If we sign both him and Guehi than I would seriously consider sending him to Bournemouth. They play a similar style, sign and develop young players and the pressure won’t be very high.

When is he going to play if we get both him and Guehi though? He looks like a talent but that might be all he will ever be if he doesn't get the game time.

Why send him out? We know JoGo is a permanent crock and Ib is a semi-crock. He will be next in line and get loads of cup games.
Exactly. Worst case scenario he's our starting CB in carabao and fa cup. Bradley will be struggling for fitness, and Frimpong might be playing RW while Salah is away missing pens for Egypt. Gomez will get games too

We always needed two. Gomez is a crock, Konate also a crock, who's giving us the Trent treatment and VVD could start going south. Nobody in the reserves is anywhere close to the first team.

This is a very good day that helps extinguish the main risk of our title defence

Inter also looking to make a play for Leoni.

He has said previously that if he does move it needs to be for regular game time as he wants to ensure he is best placed to make the Italian squad (should they qualify for the world cup).

He'll get that at Inter - but let's see how this pans out as it looks like Inter's main priority for now is Lookman.

Andrea Pirlo on Giovanni Leoni back in 2024: "If someone had doubts about starting him from the first minute, I had none. I see him every day in training. He played as a mature youngster; he will become a strong footballer."
