Didn't Bruno Cheyrou do an ok impersonation of a footballer for a couple of months?
He was shit at first, picked up slightly at one stage and scored a few decent goals and then went shit again.

That goal against Chelsea, when beating Chelsea 1-0 was a big deal, meant the world to me.

I'll hold my hand up and say I thought Joe Cole would be good. He seemed it for about half an hour.

I don't think Owen was threatening to leave. He was only 17 at the time.

Collymore was very good in his first season but not as good in his second.
I remember reading an article about him wanting more opportunities at liverpool.

A 16/17 year old saying he wants opportunities in the first team is not generally considered as 'moaning'

Modo in bullshitting shocker?

Youre right Richey, Owen was simply a great option (no threats of looking to leave); Collymore had been excellent, but had refused to move up from the midlands, and had an attitude that stank - plus Villa offered us 6m for the mentalist wife beater.
Bullshite my arse. How about u pull your head out of your ass and check the stats. Fowler - Colly scored 55goals in their first season.
47 goals in their second season together. Yeah that was a horrendous season by Collymore that.
going by what I read at the time. He was behind one the most successful partnerships in premiership.

stats won't tell you everything though Modo

Collymore was very disinterested for much of that second season. He was also either on the bench or substituted a lot.

Yes in terms of goals him and Fowler combined got a lot - but I would say that Fowler could have partnered anyone at that time and would have got 30 goals. The season before Collymore arrived he got the same amount when he was partnered by Ian Rush, who was past his best by then really.
im not only going by stats I dont remember that he ever had a poor season. I personally remember that I wa quite shocked that hed been sold.

Stan's second season was fucking tosh. He played about 20 games (I may be exageratting slighltly) without scoring before Xmas, moped about and whinged constantly.

I bet my stats would look good if you combined my scoring total with God's!

The amazing thing was that Villa were willing to pay big bucks for him. I guess they were assuming his problem was the distance he travelled to training.

Was very excited about Diouf. Ged's reputation was soaring at the time and he gets this player who then immediately stars in the World Cup. Things looked very good.
I was also expecting great things from Harry Kewell. Le Tallec was another huge disappointment.
Christian Poulsen in JJs worse-than-limited-expectations class.

Indeed. Collymore got something like 12 league goals in that season. Not bad but you'd expect more for the money he cost.

Easy to assume that he must have contributed to lots of Fowler's goals, and he did in his first year but not sure he did in his second year.

Modo's stance was finished when he brought in Fowler's stats to prove a point.
Yes it was.

But given that it began with the idea of a youth team player demanding games and threatening to leave then I think it was always doomed to failure.

Modo in talking bullshit, called out on talking bullshit, countering the claim with more bullshit SHOCKA!

1) I never anywhere said that Collymore hadnt been good, had I genius? In fact I clearly put "had been excellent". Read the fucking post before you have a hissy fit. He was clearly less good in his 2nd season, and was hitting the press for not turning up to training because of traffic problems, etc

2) Owen was 17 - SEVENTEEN - you are talking ABSOLUTE bollocks if youre telling me he was agitating for a move because of lack of first team opportunities at that age.

Its kinda useless discussing this with you when you dont seem to understand how imperative their partnership was. We're talking arguably the best partnership premier league history. It wasnt only about goals for Collymore.

Did his bit in Istanbul though.
I can never forget that matrix moment....the way he got out of line from Smicer's shot was picture perfect.

Insua for me...

Thought he'd go on to cement that full-back slot.

He could still go on to become a good left-back....who knows.

I thought Vignal and Otsembor(Spelling) would be aces too....

it seems, i suck at rating full-backs...clearly.

So Collymore assisted all (or at least most of) Fowler's goals did he?

Impossibly actually, given that Collymore was not even on the field when Fowler scored about 20 of his goals that season.
