yup. 84 points there.Yes but there are 14 teams (28 games) outside the top 5 that we need to break down. If he's a boss against them then that's good for us.
For me, it's great to see Keita playing well.
But the challenge is for him to be in the starting XI when we come up against a top 5 team - and putting in a performance.
It's all well and good to see him dominating sides like Brighton but that's not what we paid 60M for.
Because all of our other first team regulars do that 🙄. I'll give you VvD alone. So why hold him to a higher standard?Yep. But not even just the top teams. I want to see consistency. Until he plays at least ten games in a row, and produces consistently good performances. I'm just not that interested. Great potential but I'm fed up with the hype.

Some players produce steady 7s - I hope he's not that - others shine every other game with 8s and 9s and have 5s or 6s in the others - I hope he's that player. Sub him off if he's not on his game, as we do with all of our other midfielders.
Carra has been calling him Kaita for over two years now. Is there something in his brain that stops him from pronouncing kE?
As a matter of fact there probably is. To generalise pretty broadly, people tend to be predominantly either visual or aural learners, in other words their principal way of taking information in is either through what they see or or through what they hear, and when someone persistently does this kind of thing he or she is most probably a visual learner. What's in Carra's mind when he says the name "Keita" (or "Cissé" for that matter) isn't how others pronounce the name, it's a mental image of how the word looks on the page.
I'll get my anorak.
We pretty do much do pronounce 'eight' as 'aight' in Liverpool actually. But visually KE doesn’t have a ‘A’ sound. I bet he doesn’t say he’s going to Tasco’s to shop. Or that he has an Aight year-old son, or whatever. It’s just weird. But you’re probably right.

I gave VvD as an exception not to be considered. I thought that was pretty obvious, maybe I could have worded it better. My point though was clear - why demand a level (good performances in 10 straight games) that no-one else in the team (barring VvD) adheres to? I'd be delighted if he was to give top quality performances in 50% of his appearances (see Mane, Gini, Mo, etc.) but virtually no-one gives 10 straight high quality performances.WHAT??? I don't recall VVD being piggybacked off pitches and otherwise disappearing for weeks or months on end. I genuinely have no idea what your complaint is. I'll be genuinely delighted if Keita proves himself, consistently, both in form and fitness, and I've already said above what great potential he has. All I'm tired about is the chatter that rises up after several decent performances and then dies away again when he's injured. He needs to prove himself, week in, week out. Why you bring VVD, or anyone else, or any of the range of numbers, into it is an absolute mystery.
What on earth are you on about ?! Whoosh - well done for totally missing the point and going off on a 180 degree tangent (if that's even possible). I'll give you a clue - NO-ONE was talking about how many appearances a player has made. What world do you live on? He's not even remotely comparable to TAA, VVD etc.

Haha, yes it is. There isn't much even Carra can do to mangle "ta". 😀
In this instance I suspect it's a case of jumping to ignorant conclusions. There are various names and other words around in football which either belong to or are derived from German (e.g.the "Eintracht" in "Eintracht Frankfurt" - it just means Frankfurt United BTW) and in those words the diphthong "ei" is pronounced as Carra pronounces it in "Keita". Macca's last but one post above is exactly on point about football pundits making this kind of clueless assumption.
Another one BTW is "ier". Because that would be pronounced "ee-ay" in French, too many people assume it would be the same everywhere else. Example: "Javier" as in Mascherano is NOT "Havvy - ey" - it's "Havvy - air" with the "r" clearly sounded. The guy's a Spanish speaker, not a French speaker FFS. And as for Kieran "Trippy - ey", give me strength.
Rant over. 😀
A Spanish speaker told me years back that this was the case the other way round (B pronounced as V) but I wasn't aware of the above. Thanks for the info.
Hold on, I must also have some Carra-brain-syndrome thing happening here. Of all the years I spent in Liverpool in my teenage years, I don't remember 'eight' ever resembling 'aight' in scouse. Yes, I know it's stupid arguing about the scouse accent with a scouser, but I don't see it. Hmm..We pretty do much do pronounce 'eight' as 'aight' in Liverpool actually.
Plus Carra doesn't shop in Tesco, he goes The Asda.
