What are your views on this series?

I think its a good opportunity to blood the youngsters, sort of make up in terms of game time for missing out on Europe for some of the developing talent

We play against Sporting Lisbon tonight - would be good to see Raheem, Suso, Morgan and sterling all get some competitive game time under their belt + a chance to see the emerging talent from some of the other teams

Also good to see that we are one of the founders/creators of this format.

A fantastic idea in my mind, I hope they manage to make it competitive so it really drives growth and a winning mentality.

Starting XI:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Morgan-------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------Suso---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sterling-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Silva

-----------------------------------------------------Shelvey------------------------------Coady------------------------------------------------------

Robinson--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Wisdom

---------------------------------------------------McGiveron-----------------------------Sama-------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Belford---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jonjo in the starting line up.

Silva, Sterling, Suso, Raheem.

Looking forward to watching this.

Heard good things but tonight will be the first time I see him play.

apart from that brilliant ball that Silva almost got on the end off

Shelvey looks like he doesn't want to be there.

If I was him, I'd be looking at the signings of Adam and Henderson and questioning my future at the club.

A loan is a must really for him.

They've looked a far more cohesive unit.

There has been a lot of aimless hoofing from us... in the run up to the goal, Sama hoofed a clearance forward instead of playing it back to Belford and keeping possession.

Great move by Lisbon again but we make it easy for them, don't we?

Robinson taken out and where was McGivern? I don't think he's had a good game at all. Is he meant to be any good?

I really don't rate shelvey. I cannot see what the fuss is about, there is nothing he does that, for example coady cannot do.

The midfield is the problem for us. There is no assuredness in possession and defensively it's just getting bypassed. Ultimately we're just trying to release the likes of Raheem and Sterling from deep and hoping something will come of it.

I'd try and establish more of a balance in midfield in the second half. Sporting are much better at the pass and move thing so Suso and Shelvey probably isn't the best idea.

haha

Is it my imagination or has Raheem grown wider / taller. He looks slightly more imposing than he did last season

I don't know how I made that mistake, they look nothing alike.
