We could probably do with using the squad in this game.

Lovren, Allen, Lallana and Balotelli should all really be playing.

Other candidates are Borini, Johnson, Enrique and Manquillo (Is he even fit? Alive?).

I'd rather Lambert stayed on the bench.

Definitely one for rotation although I doubt Stevie will like that

I'd go with

------------------------------Ming--------------------------

----------------Lovren-----Toure-----Skrtel-----------
Manquillo Enrique
-------------------------------Can--------------------------
-------------------Allen------------Lallana---------------

-----------------------------Borini--------------------------
--------------------------Balotelli--------------------------

I'd like to see one of the U21 DMs come in for this one to test whether they can step up. With a back 3 at least they'll have protection.

------------------Mignolet------------------
---------Toure---Skrtel---Lovren---------
---Ibe-----------Rossiter---------Moreno
-------------Allen-----Lallana--------------
-----------------Gerrard---------------------
------------------Borini----------------------

Moreno and Ibe don't need rest and will both provide extra numbers forward to support attacks. Gives a week of rest for the big guns ahead of what I hope might be 2 full strength teams against Besiktas & Saints (given Besiktas is at home)

Borini and Balotelli in the same team, i find it difficult enough watching one of them

Ibe needs to continue imo, him and Lazar wingbacks

I don't. We look pretty leggy already and have a Europa League midweek game coming up followed by a must-win vs Southampton.

Play the fringe players - Pardew usually does the same in cups.

Id play our best 11 while fit.
We need to keep this momentum up and not risk a fuck up.
Yep, I've said this for the last few games.

I think Rodgers will try to stick with his performing side & then rotate in the last week or so of this month when hopefully the confidence & momentum is enough that it won't be destructive.

Play Manquillo, don't play Enrique. Don't ever play Enrique. Is Toure back?

Also, Markovic is suspended for Europa league for the next few games isn't he? So he'll play either side and be fresh

Play Johnson and rest Sakho. Looks like he needs it

Mignolet
Lovren Skrtel Johnson
Manquillo Can Allen Markovic
Lallana Coutinho
Balotelli

Coutinho definitely needs a rest too, play Gerrard instead of him.

Ibe is cup-tied, and Rossiter is out for a while with ankle (ligament?) problems.

I agree with Oncy about picking our "best 11" although I'd suggest that 17 or 18 of our players are capable of being included in our best 11 at present; this is the strongest squad we've had in many years (despite having little cover for Sturridge and only one DM'er).

I wouldn't mind which 3 of Ibe, Lallana, Coutinho, Markovic and Sterling play. As Ibe is cup tied and Coutinho needs a rest I'd be tempted to play Lallana, Markovic and Sterling (if fit).

..................................Mignolet..............................
..........Skrtel............Lovren............Sakho...............
Markovic...................................................Moreno..
.........................Can......Henderson.....................
............Sterling..............................Lallana
..............................Sturridge..................................

Chelsea, Spurs, and Southampton all seem to have recovered quickly enough from the trauma of their reserves being knocked out of the cup, so I don't know why it should be any different for us. I'd play

Mignolet

Williams
Johnson
Lovren

Manquillo
Allen
Henderson
Enrique

Lallana

Balotelli
Borini

This will not be an easy game, fuck rotation. Play the rezzies in the euro Disney cup.

We have a great chance to win the FAC, I think BR will prioritise this (at this stage) and the PL over the EL (which of course is over 2 legs so more chance our class will tell than a one off). Ibe, Lucas out for different reasons. Kolo back and on a high, Balo should be very confident now too. Sakho and Coutinho need resting.

------------------------------Ming--------------------------

------------Kolo------------Skrtel----------Lovren-----------

--- Markovic --------------------------------------- Moreno

-------------------- Hendo ---------- Can------------------

-------- Lallana ------------------------- Sterling

--------------------------Balotelli--------------------------

This is at a ground where we've been utterly humiliated for the past two visits, and dealt two successive psychological blows as well, and the opponents are now managed by another manager who seems to make a habit of beating us. And it's the only competition we've got a cat in hell's chance of winning this season. So play the strongest side possible and bloody well win the game.

I don't get the hate towards europa league.

If we win we're in the Champions League

I'm with the Haguemonster on this

I want to win both.
Or at least try to.
If we cant play in all comps then we arent good enough to be in Europe.
Our squad is plenty big enough to cope and we should be going all out to win this game.
If anything rest players at home against the bottom 7 teams in the premier league, not the fucking FA cup.

I want us to win trophies. I really like it when we do that.
I think pyschologically (and I dont mean to be all THAT patronising here) and subconsciously a lot of you are buying in mind body and soul to EXACTLY what the money men in football want you to.
Fourth more important than trophies?
Then we drop our first team players when we go to Europe and drop back out again.
Rest players in the cups and milk the fuck out of this cash cow.

Fuck all that. Win games. Win trophies. Rest in summer.

I'd agree about playing the strongest possible side but I'd add the caveat of putting Lovren in at centre back and moving Can into midfield. We're going to suffer in the bigger games if we don't play Can there whilst Lucas is out, and for that to happen we need Lovren to settle into the back three. He looked good last night so I'd start him against palace.

I just want us to be good. Time was, winning the cup was a major indicator of that. Now it's not.

I don't really see the point in fighting reality. Jeopardising our chances of getting back in the CL for the sake of a much-diminished trophy is like taking out one of those pay day loans at 20,000% APR or whatever it is.

Oncy, you know I love ya, but fourth place is absolutely more important than winning a cup. We HAVE to get back to being regular contenders for the league and you do that *in* the league, not in knockout competitions. Cups are the icing, the league is the cake.

That said, I agree about playing our best side against Pardew and his scufflers.

Didn't do Arsenal any harm last season.
