Gettin’ Guehi with it

Endo is one of the best in heading. It's about the timing of the jump I guess. Rarely watched Guehi perhaps it's the same with him. He is not short like Lisandro Martinez.

This got me thinking, I figured we didn't score that many headed goals compared to other teams last season, but apparently we scored 12 - same as Arsenal and only behind Forest (13) and Brentford (14)

Who knew?

Arsenal's corner threat nose dived when Saka was injured, so I'd expect them to increase next year. I think Mac takes our best corners but it'll all be up for grabs next year. Gakpo does well put of Mos crosses, too.

We were the 15th best team in terms of scoring set piece goals last season. Definitely an area were Slot will look to improve in pre season.

We were the 7th best team in terms of defending set pieces. Which is very good.
But, and this made sense to me when you think about our games this season, we were one of the worst teams in defending indirect free kicks.

Slot has a bit to work on.

Midgets.
We're just a team of midgets.
Just a team of middddddgets!

Nee players over 6 foot.
We got nee players over 6 foot.
Bar of course Van Diiiiiiiiiiijk

As comparisons go, Konate for France (23 caps) imo looks consistently nervy and has had plenty of mistakes in him.

Guehi for England (also 23 caps) imo looks consistently assured, controlled and calm. (I don't watch so much internationals though.)

I'd miss Konate at his best as he is so aggressive but he does switch off sometimes and is somewhat fragile and doesn't have top notch distribution. The contract thing is already pissing me off, don't want that again all season.

Guehi is right-footed, so should be able to play RCB but could then move to LCB when Virgil goes, which would solve a real problem. He's quality, homegrown and a good lad, so can see us making it happen, especially with £30m in hand for Quansah. Can't think of anyone as good that's achievable. Hato or Murillo presumably almost as expensive.

I've not said it never happens though. I've said it's less important than it used to be, and I stand by that.
From memory I think it read it used to be 18-20% so down a little. Though I think I saw 2023/4 was up to 204 goals, the first time over 200, but down again last season. It depends on which source you read but the percentages are from the PL blog.

“Liverpool have got a few concerns about Konate because he’s got a mistake in him.

“They got away with a few last year because of their position, but that won’t always be that way."
