Gettin’ Guehi with it

there were rumours of ake going to everton too.

i think every club is as opportunistic as us so city who have 3x 30+ year olds and a trafficked eastern european child amongst their cb’s might fancy some guehi in their lives.

If we're really holding off on this for the $5m that's being reported, and we don't make it happen after last night's comedy performance, it's going to make what could have felt like the greatest summer window ever feel very flat and low-rent. Just fucking sign him. We need cover back there far, far, FAR more than we need another striker.

I would say we need both equally as a bare minimum.

And we can sign whoever we want. If we keep giving the ball away all the time when we have it in the attacking third, and our midfield isn't convincing at all, our new back line is going to struggle, and it's going to make any CB look bad.

I think this season being the lead up to the world cup has definitely played a role. A lot of movement during this transfer window

Friday morning after their second leg we will sign him.

I typed this last night and forgot to post…

… it’s entirely possible that Palace want Guehi to stay long enough to get them into the league stage of Europa Conference.

I think your right - it’s been reported that we have good relations with the Palace ownership, so it’s not outrageous to think there’s a bit of respect there for us holding off until they sort out Europe.

Also, if we have the player locked in one way or another, we are in the driving seat to get him at the price we want.

Again… anyone that’s ever negotiated anything knows what happens when you get near the end of a time sensitive negotiation.

Isak is the cherry, but Guehi for me is a must. Konate is too comfortable, and we still don’t know where his heads at, should he have designs on leaving or intends to stay.

I'd agree with you if it was £35 mill and they get to keep him until the window closes
Tbf it might be 35m with add-ons. I don't overly mind that. It's indy posting it so pinch of salt over the specifics

Exactly, I'm waiting for Fabrizio

Guehi 'has to' stay at Palace beyond deadline, says Glasner
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says Marc Guehi will likely not be leaving the club in the current transfer window

The Eagles defender is into the final year of his current deal and had been linked with a move away this summer, but that has not materialised.

Glasner says there is now no time to find a ready-made replacement for the club captain, adding that Guehi remains committed to the Eagles.

Glasner said: "From my side, he has to [still be a Crystal Palace player] because it's not possible at the moment to find a Marc Guehi replacement who can play straight in the Premier League, being a starter, being consistent.

"When we see our foundation of success in the last few months, it's our defence... Marc is a crucial part.

"Getting the right replacement in now is almost impossible.

"He shows in every game that he's focused. If Marc had said 'I want to leave Crystal Palace', it would already have happened weeks ago.

"Marc is fully committed to the team, he shows it every third day at the moment... it is my point of view that we need to keep Marc."
