Gettin’ Guehi with it

Fucking love this signing. After watching the Villa - Palace game yesterday I was nearly as excited about this as a breakthrough for Isak.

He was so immense and insanely good yesterday. Top human, top leader and just an absolute brilliant player.
This will be a fantastic signing.
Does he not hate the gays on religious grounds?

Or maybe he was mocked as a child due to his surname.

He wrote: " Jesus loves you" on his armband during Pride. Its a non issue imho.

Following his side's 1-0 victory at Portman Road, Palace manager Oliver Glasner appealed for "calm" about the issue.

"Everyone now is about integration, no discrimination and Marc as well," Glasner told Amazon Prime.

"We all have the same opinion. We are in sports and in sports we are always against discrimination and any kind of abuse, and Marc as well."

Glasner said he spoke to Guehi about the issue before the match, adding the England international is "not a child".

"He has his opinion and we accept and respect every opinion," added Glasner.

"This is the quote of this campaign, it's being tolerant and Marc is very tolerant so everything is fine."

The final piece of the jigsaw to conclude a fairly eventful summer's work.

A part of me feels a bit grubby over this deal. I like Palace, and I really wanted their fans to have a great season this year. And us taking advantage to get their captain and best player at a knock-down price feels a bit mean. It's really shafted them. But they knew it was coming and should have been better prepared, rather than desperately trying to sign a replacement today.
So I'm glad West Ham are looking to scupper the Igor deal, because it means we can pretend they were the cunts and not us.

That is one of the very best player interviews I have ever seen. What class and maturity!
Really humble. Want to give him the benefit of the doubt about the rainbow armband (maybe Alisson will set him straight (no pun intended)) but he really seems to meet the no dickheads policy.

One hour left and deal not officially done. Apparently Glasner still hasn't signed off on it.

This whole armband thing - am I the only one reading it as less of a "Fuck the gays, I love Jesus" and more in a "Jesus loves everyone, including the gays" way?

I dunno. I literally know fuck all about it other than what I've read here, but simply writing "Jesus loves you" on a rainbow armband doesn't seem to me to be inherently insulting?

That's exactly how it's supposed to be read. Jesus loves everyone. But certain people just want to be offended by everything and read malice into it.

i like them also but the PL is very dog eat dog these days, if we didn’t pounce someone else would’ve. palace could’ve gotten almost double the money last year and the player could’ve extended his contract, so there’s a bit of blame to share around.

they’re one of those sides like southampton of about 10/15 years ago that would’ve been very good had they managed to keep everyone together.

I'm not sure that's completely true, mate... Though there certainly are some like that out there, we were also experiencing kneeling against racism being criticized, BLM being treated like it was a bad thing, and our own skippers shown moving to a country that murders people for being gay. People were ready to push back, and though on this particular instance, many probably did jump too soon, I don't think it's 'coz they were just looking for another outrage.
