Assuming Matip is fit, I think our team will pick itself - although I'm wondering whether at some point we need to try giving Origi a start over Mane (or a longer sub stint) who looks a mentally fatigued at times.

I'm not sure how to draw the front three when Salah plays through the middle but you get the point...

-------------Alisson-----------
TAA---Matip---VVD---Robbo
---------Gini-----Fabs-----------
------------Shaqiri----------------
------------Firmino----------------
-------Salah-----Mane-----------

Palace are hot and cold - their full backs are either on form and transform their team, or a bit shit. They looked very poor against Watford but we can expect them to up their game for this one.

This is the last game for a while, so we will have time to regroup and freshen up after this one. Full steam Ahead. We have scored quite a few headers against these ones over the last seasons I think… Matip to score at any time should give some Nice return.

Another chance to put pressure on city by playing first.

Huddersfield may even have the new manager bounce if they get someone in.

I watched a Melissa Reddy interview a couple of days ago and she said Gomez was touch and go to start vs Wolves, I guess he should be ready now too.

Yep. Post Wolves FAC. I'm not sure where she gets her info but it's definitely direct from the club. I think I heard Klopp say something similar but can't remember where/when.

After the televised presser a while back (the one where he talked about Gomez but then discussed Matip, thus causing some confusion), he did his usual non-televised interviews with certain hacks, including Reddy, and that's where he said both were close to being available again. Gomez, he said, was slightly more advanced, because Matip has had some kind of 'procedure' on his collar bone and it needed to be monitored for a while longer.

If there was ever a game to start Keita.

I would bench Shaq who was running in between a lot in the last couple of games.

Roy Hodgson saw his first-choice goalkeeper, Guaita, hobble off before half-time in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Watford after suffering a calf strain. Hennessey, who began the season in the team, shipped two goals and later suffered a quad muscle-injury to his kicking leg which will require a scan. Initial fears are that both players face a month on the sidelines, with Speroni to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday to prepare for a first-team return.

Will our curse of opposition 3rd choice keepers having a blinder strike again?

I agree. He played really well away at Palace too, so I think it's a good fixture to put him in.

As it is at home I would be reluctant to play two midfielders sitting, and Keita at the top, but I think it would do him well to give him that freedom.
Now he is very much playing within himself.

Excellent ! As much as I thought Fabinho played extremely well vs. Brighton, VvD and Gomez could be our CB partnership for the next 7-8 years and I want to see them playing together as often as possible and for all our important games.

I think a game where the opposition's attackers are the pacey Zaha & Townsend it would be a better fixture to bring back Joe than if he were up against a lump. Would love to see that core 3 back - VVD & Gomez with Fabs sitting in front.

I see Your point. But if we free up Fabinho for a midfield role, we don't need two sitting deep here. So Fabinho as anchor and Keita and Gini/Shaq pushing higher. Would give us a lot of attacking power. Woy would shit himself.

Fabs needs someone near him to be most confident, but I also think his presence brings out the best in Gini. Love those two holding (taking it in turns to meaner forwards) with a third midfielder given complete licence to roam.

Two midfielders sitting helps to cover the runs of Zaha and Townsend, considering out full backs push up quite a lot.
But it is a rather Benitez approach...he has ruined my thinking.

Its a given that 39 year old Speroni who hasnt played a first team game since 2017, will be MOTM.

As someone else said, I think this is the perfect game to start Keita in.

Alisson
Milner Matip VVD Robertson
Hendo Fabinho Keita
Salah Firmino Mane

Good old Shaq: 'To infinity and beyond!'

Palace to derail our title bid once again. The only positive is Dwight Gayle isn't playing for them. Narrow loss for us this time.

They didn't derail us last time... We were already done for after the Chav$ki match. We could have beaten them 13-0 and still lost the league.

Erm no...thats the point .. we were trying to beat them at least 8-0 so that we could beat them on goal difference by the last game. We were three nil up as i recall and it ended 3-3. That was the game in which ALL hope ..however little .. ended.

Well then it's a silly point... The whole world knew that the loss to the chavs proper fucked us. All hope was lost then. City weren't gonna slip up at that point.
