Preferred starting 11 and general thoughts ahead of this?

I'd go for:

-------------- Mignolet -------

--- Can --- Skrtel --- Sakho

Sterling --------------------- Moreno

------- Henderson ---- Allen

--- Lallana ------------------- Coutinho

-------------- Sturridge -------------------

That's obviously if Skrtel, Sakho and Allen are okay to play.

Probably our strongest 11, we could possibly swap Lallana and Sterling if necessary too

Not sure about sterling at RB.

Also tempted to start Sterling upfront instead of Sturridge.

Really looking forward to getting Ibe back, another big threat in the team. He's still a few weeks away though isn't he?

The alternative is Markovic who after a more positive spell, has regressed. Unfortunately.

Has he regressed that much?

Sterling can play there - just think he's better suited elsewhere.

---------Can----------Skrtel---------Sakho---------
Markovic-----------------------------------------Moreno

-----------------Allen----------Henderson----------

----------------Sterling--------Coutinho-----------

-------------------------Studge--------------------------

He's been pretty shit lately imo mate.

Of course it's not an ideal position for Sterling but he's quite impressed me when played there before.

I'll go with the following; Sterling essentially takes up Suarez's role last season, where his versatility allows him to pose a threat in the same varied ways - dropping deeper to receive the ball and push with it into the box, pulling wide to spread play, or pushing up and playing on the defenders' shoulders when Coutinho/Henderson has the ball outside the box.

----------------- Mignolet ------------------
-------- Can --- Skrtel --- Sakho --------
Lazar ----- Hend ---- Allen ---- Moreno
----------------- Coutinho ------------------
--------- Sturridge --- Sterling -----------

subs: Jones/Ward, Lovren, Toure, Lallana, Gerrard, Lambert, Balotelli

No team has done anything against him offensively - been excellent in that regard in helping Can ... I'd rather he was there so we can maximize Sterling's attacking threat.

I'd drop Studge - we need a win to continue momentum and Sterling's work off the ball etc is key.

I do hope Gerrard isn't in the first 11 but ...

Wish we had played Swansea a few weeks ago when they were missing their best 2 players Ki and Sigurdsson. I think we'll struggle a bit....0-0 or 1-1.

Why the fuck would we play Sterling, our most forward thinking and probable player of the season thus far in a position that starts off a maximum distance away from their goal?

No thanks. Let's play to our strengths

There's been a lot written about our system needing the wingbacks to be the fittest, most energetic players in the side. I guess that's why Rodgers has played Sterling there when others were out at risk of sacrificing his obvious threat further up the field.

That said, I'd also play Markovic there and follow Studsup lead in playing Sterling off Sturridge.

Flanagan is fit now - I wonder if he might pinch a wing back slot. However i'd like to see:

----------------Mignolet------------------
--------Can----Skrtel----Sakho----------
Markovic------------------------Moreno-
------------Hendo---Allen----------------
---------Lallana--------Coutinho---------
----------------Sturridge------------------

Don't play Sterling in the wing back position. Play Moreno and Lazar as RWB and LWB.

Play both Allen and Henderson if fit.

Coutinho Sterling and Sturridge as the forward three.

It's mad and a little sad that we all know we're weaker now if SG plays. It's given BR a bit of an issue but putting him on the bench is now easier because everyone knows he's off at the end of the season, so there's less media bullshit to deal with if he's left out.

Sad but true, hopefully he has got one matchwinning performance left in him to remind us what he was capable of.

His injury couldnt have come at a better time for Rodgers, there is no doubt in anybodies mind now that Gerrard is not in our best XI so Id say Rodger will be more likely to take some flack if hes picked rather than of hes not. Hes still a good option of the bench if we need to change the game but hes incapable of controlling a game from midfield these days so he either gets 30 mins replacing Coutinho/Lallana or not at all

Sterling is wasted at RWB. Markovic hasnt been poor imho. He's been very solid defensivly and contributed quite a bit.
I'd rather start him at RWB.

Ming
Can Skrtel Sakho
Markovic Allen Hendo Moreno
Sterling Coutinho
Sturridge

Is the right answer.
