Tricky one this. Play a strong 11 but rest a few players.
We're playing every 3 or 4 days for the next 3 weeks. We have to rotate a few players, thats the point of having a big squad.

Ming
Lovren Skrtel Sakho
Ibe Allen Can Enrique
Lallana Markovic
Balotelli

We should play the subs and reserves; Borini, Balotelli, Manquillo, Gerrard, Ward, etc...

Win.

Momentum is huge when the players are tired, keep winning and it becomes easier.

Couple of changes, that's all

Gerrard is out for 3 weeks. So now there is no alternative to shifting Can into midfield – unless you want to put all your eggs in the Allen basket. That means either Lovren or Toure (please no Johnson) need to take Can's spot at RCB.

Our squad is plenty big enough to cope and we should be going all out to win this game.

I'm confused that you are against anything but a Strongest XI, but then say our squad is big enough which is suggesting if we rotate we have good enough players.. Which is it?

This is one of the weaker opponents we will face for a while and so we should give fringe players or those lacking fitness a run.

I think the end of the Spurs game saw what we will line up with going forwards - Lovren into the back 3 and Can into DM.

Well I wouldnt drop any player unless their performance levels drop off. But if that happens I think we have good enough back up.

Coutinho has started about 100 games on the bounce and Sakho looks in need of a few minutes rest too. Dare I say Hendo as well ?

Im pretty sure they have all kinds of measures and technical shit to tell them when a player is dropping their performance levels so if thats the case and fatigue is a factor I would expect them to come out of the team.
Henderson has been left out a couple of times, Sakho has only been in the team about 8 weeks and Coutinho seems to be performing at a high standard week in week out so he must still be fairly fit.

Im not saying we wont rest players im sure we will. Im just saying I wouldnt.

Coutinho was pretty bad against Spurs. He wasn't at the races at all.
Fair enough.
I didnt see the game.
I wouldnt have a problem with Coutinho out and Lallana in.
We have a good enough squad to play a strong side without resorting to throwing a bunch of kids in though right?

Mignolet

Lovren
Skrtel
Toure

Manquillo
Allen
Can
Johnson

Lallana
Balotelli
Borini

I wouldnt have a problem with that. I would rather see Sturridge play to gain some fitness.

Yep, I want a strong side, just rest our best players that are in need of a rest, who ever the fitness decide are most in need of one.

The likes of Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Henderson, Moreno and Ibe don't need a rest, so they should play.

Top that up with Lovren, Allen, Manquillo, Balotelli and we have a team.

We spent a lot of money expanding the squad in the summer, we should be able to use it. That's a first team, and brining in those four who cost about 60 odd million.

I agree with everything about winning trophies being more important than the cl qualification.

Except this season. Seriously.

The money basically doubles this season. It doesn't make much difference to Chelsea, as they have a large player stockpile to keep them going for a while, City have a huge 'sponsorship deal' to fall back on, & Utd have a huge legitimate income. For every other club though (arsenal, ourselves, spurs, & possibly even Southampton) if they or we get in it creates a buffer, cos we can spend way way more cash.

We don't get in this year & we may be looking at a seriously long time before we get back in it cos we'll be at a massive disadvantage.

Hypothetically speaking, say it finished Chelsea, city, spurs, arsenal, us, Utd. Then we'd have 5 clubs all with a minimum of twice our spending power to overhaul, two of them with three or four times our spending power.

The balance is already tipped in the favour of Chelsea and Manchester City. We cant compete no matter what.
I dont think the likes of 2005 and Porto in 2003 will ever be seen again. The club is a lock in and without oil billions you arent invited to the table.

Id like us to try and start winning trophies again. I cant state this highly enough, I LOVE winning trophies.

Also the champions league is on BT next year and I dont have that.

I know what you mean but worth pointing out that in the last couple years we've had Dortmund and A.Madrid reach the finals - I know they didn't win it but they came very very close.

That's pretty similar to the team I put up on page 1. So agree, we have a strong squad now and can give a player or two a rest without significantly weakening the team. I'd leave Borini out and play Sterling, he's recently had a good rest and missed Spurs so should be good to go for a few consecutive games. Sturridge to come on for Balo after 55-60 mins.

He's more than good. He's very good indeed, is still young and will soon be a worldy if he keeps developing. It's true that the kind of fee being mentioned is loopy, but nowadays you have to pay that kind of money to sign that much talent and potential all wrapped up in one package.
