Gettin’ Guehi with it

Lets face it, from the players point of view the paying team are the ones who show the most desire to want the player, the ones who are showing ambition and putting their money where their mouth is. We tried to low ball and gamble and ultimately this is the cost. So while we spent big in the Summer, our ambition seems a bit all over the place and disproportionate.

City may have just beaten us here. And I´m not that arsed about this player. However, if we don´t bring in someone who can play CB-RB this window then its just negligence.

What changed between the summer when he was our #1 CB target, and now. Has he got worse? I don't think so. Has our need for a CB reduced? Certainly not.

Allowing this to happen just shows how poor the strategy around our team is. We could have bid the same as the summer and got him I imagine.

Anyway - I want City to win the PL this season so LFGGG

BLUEEEE MOOOOOOON

i think fan opinions are very mixed on arne right now, you can’t seriously expect a good player who holds all the cards to sign for us when most of us have barely been arsed watching our matches at times this season.

this one has been obvious for a while, fair play to city for shutting their mouths and picking off our targets when they had a chance.

it was last summer or never for guehi given how the season has gone

Yep, that's what's most egregiously wrong here. We won't be signing anyone though. It's such a weird hill to die on.

Genuinely astonished by this
Yeah. The only way I can understand it is if we sign someone else. We will have to sign centre backs in the summer. We should be planning for life without Konate, Van Dijk and Gomez, although I expect Van Dijk to still be around next season. Rather than try and sign 2-3 new CBs in the summer (probably 2) we should be spreading that spending over a longer period of time to minimise a settling-in period.

Hughes should be doing press conferences alongside Slot. Not every time, but once every couple of months, because this sort of decision sits with him and it would help us supporters understand rationale, rather than getting it leaked via journos every now and again.

The big sell of Guehi - aside from the contract situation - was the fact that he's English.

It's disappointing, particularly in the wider context of our situation, but there are other great defenders we can buy.

The question is whether the data nerds can pick one and actually get it done.

Guehi will earn 300k per week, same sign on fee as this summer and Palace get 20 mill +.

It sucks but we’re never doing that deal in January. City don’t care. That’s 500 mill spent since last January and 100 mill in this window.

We really didn't, mate. We had a bid accepted by Palace which they then rescinded on deadline day because Glasner threatened to walk - which makes the fact that he's now said he's off in the summer anyway infuriating.

Add the 550k a week in wages and that they replace the 110 mill spent last January on two players that haven’t performed the last 12 months.

Kilman's basically a decent player whom I'd consider at the right price. Anyone joining that defence at W.Ham would have a job looking good.

Agree on the last point. And that could well be why Kliman looked completely lost last time I saw him playing. Scrambling about in no-mans land on corners, like a lad late for the school bus. I also used to think he had some potential at wolves.

Kilman has been a disaster. 40 mill and the West Ham fans boo him even on the bench.
Wouldn’t sign him at all..
